Kickass man. Thanks for taking that for me. I may borrow that basic idea for mounting a rear fuse/relay panel.

Probably a stupid question, but does the bottle heater overheat with it running on 20 v instead of 12?

We did a Daily Driver class at the track Saturday night. Cold and slippery. I won first round against a blown truck but drew a really fast Fox nitrous body notch second round. We both left with equal lights (pro tree, .333 to .334, footbrake only) but he was just faster (1000 lbs. lighter) and did a 6.74 to his 6.17. We both had lousy 60 ft.'s him, 1.50's and me 1.60's.

Overall we had a great night and the track had an amazing turnout.

Yeah, kinda hard to see but made the trek out to a friend's overgrown stash of junk cars. He's getting ready to crush a few and I inquired about a '63 Dodge 4 door I had seen. I wanted a little better rear glass as 25 year-old me had put some sanding scratches in the rear glass when sanding the body and it had welding pits from the floors as well. Best part was he told me I could have what I needed for FREE from the car. I've had at least 3 other rear windows and they were all worse than what I had once cleaned. This one was hard to get to and was filthy but I rolled the dice! It came out really close to perfect once cleaned and will be going in soon!

I figured I would do an end of season re-cap and what's in store since this "Project" is more about performance and goals in that area than it is restoration.

We did NOT get it into the 9's this year as I had desperately hoped. Lots of factors including the availability of the track prep or "glue" our track uses. They were cutting it by 50% with alcohol due to availability and price. For a car like mine on 275 radials, it's almost impossible to get down a track when turned all the way up. It still does okay at the 600 hp level but at the 850, it's impossible! The stars have to align with good weather, sticky prep, track temp and a perfect run to get that goal with the current setup. That said, a different front shock setting has really helped smooth out the rise in the front and kept it from topping out and unloading like it had been.

I continue to be amazed at the strength of the factory block and transmission. After years of the horsepower limits of the RB block being thrown out there by the "experts" you learn who has actually pushed the limits and who hasn't. I'm convinced a light rotating assembly, limiting the rpm's and keeping the engine from detonating are all keys to longevity. We're going on 7 years with this combo now and I couldn't be happier.

Plans for the off season include a Nitrous Express plate capable of a 500 shot and an upgrade to a -6 feed line. Cue Salt and Pepa's "Push it real good!" biggrin

Waiting on that big Christmas bonus! LOL! I was piecing together the NX plate, solenoids and -6 line separately and it ended up being almost the same price as just buying the kit minus the bottle. realcrazy

No controller yet. We'll see if I can hook the 300 shot. If not, I'll install a controller.

Nice! Gotta love the extra UV protection. If you don't mind my asking, what did that cost to have done? I bet the installer loved working on it on his bench Vs. installed.

He quoted me 3 prices. $40 for regular tint, $75 for carbon tint and $100 for the ceramic. He had a neat little display with the different tints on a small wheel and a heat lamp behind it. It was amazing the difference with the ceramic tint and how you couldn't feel the heat! My car being black is brutal on a hot summer day in the staging lanes!

Man, are you skipping the 9's entirely and going right to 8's with the 500 jets in the plate kit??

Love everything about your '63, and it's impressive what you're doing with a mild combo and lots of factory parts. You've definitely got me convinced a stock block can live at 750-800 hp as long as the tune is spot on and the rpm is kept low.

It's funny how my initial goal was to build a nice Max Wedge clone with a crossram and do car shows. Then I discovered how fun and addicting the dragstrip is! Now it's become more of an experiment and something to tinker with and continually improve because I got bored running low 11's.

As far as the 500 shot, I plan on approaching it in baby steps like I have up to this point. I will admit I have a ton of envy for these guys that can monitor everything with their modern ecu and here I am half blind with no data, a screwdriver and hammer. hammer I will say the software that I use has been a really accurate predictor and lets me know I'm on the right path.

We are at 850hp currently, BTW. I keep telling myself consistent 9.99's will satisfy but I know better.

I talked to Neighbor Dave this weekend and he's all in to help me do some fab and modify the solenoid mounting. These are much bigger and exit out the bottom instead of the side like the Mainline solenoids. Pretty stoked!

Neighbor Dave and I got the bracket and lines designed and installed for solenoids today. Will pull off and paint the bracket. Still need to wire and run the -6 line but the hard part is done.

I ran the feed line today. Much bigger! It fit nicely along the edge of the rocker underneath the little things that grab the carpet. The 8" or so of braided line that connects to the solenoid stands out way too much so I'll put some black shrink tube on it. I need a -6 bottle nut and a fitting for the pressure sensor and it will be done! I'm considering a 1/4 turn ball valve to keep pressure off the solenoids and shut off the feed line. Looking for a place to conceal that but keep it handy. Maybe up under the dash?
