Hi all
Looking to buy a tapered ring compressor for my 4.373 bore . What I have found is 4.375. Will this get a ring hung up?
Did it last time with a straight band type and it was painful .
Tricks ? Ideas ?

That should work fine. We sometimes get a odd bore size and use one a couple thousands larger. You also might be able to get an adjustable one (that has a worm screw clamp around a taped compressor with a split in it). They work pretty good. Summit has a Total Seal brand one in stock, TSR-RC4345-4455, $55.95.

After 20 years with an adjustable ring tool, I just recently started using the tapered ring compressors, I'm impressed. I'm most impressed when I use them right side up smile

The adjustable aluminum compressors work great too. I just tighten them up until it measures dead on the bore size I'm working with and it'll work just as good as one of the fixed ones.
These style compressors will make you throw away the old flimsy metal ones w/ the hose clamp. up

4.375" should work fine. Machine shop should have put a chamfer at the top of the cylinder bore.
