I bit the bullet and bought myself a new practice tree for Christmas . Just ordered the Next Gen unit. How many of you guys have one and what do you think of them ? The next gen looks like it has a lot of bells and whistles . I just need to practice on my foot brake a little. Opinions or reviews are really appreciated.

My Port a tree is about 25 years old. Before race season I’ll use it daily. I’ve found it really helps in tightening up the grouping. My racing is all foot brake. Though I made a foot pedal years ago I use the hand button. Practice both full and pro tree. Use the same rollout. This will allow you to see if you are anticipating the light. Pro will always be slightly slower, about .01. This has allowed me to maintain a .025-.030 average light over the last 5 years. It has greatly reduced the number of lights beyond .04x. I consider a high .03x light to be late now.

thanks for the info , I have been all over the lights the past few years. I decided I need to practice to try to make it past second round. LOL . The wife would really like to see me make a few dollars at this stuff instead of constantly chasing a number. LOL

Happy Christmas to all Mopar folks.

I heard about a few guys buying drag trees for the spare room!

Looks like it’s the only way I will ever get “ the thrill “ again in the future lol...

I had a real nice 76 Dodge Aspen ‘dragcar’ back in the 80’s, very rare in the UK.
Then I heard about another near to me also painted ‘hemi orange’ with a 440 too.

Never got to see that car race and mine was stolen back in the 90’s from my unit.

Not seen any more since those glorious days, so some nice pics please, to remind me of those times... violin

Best wishes from Limey John England Santa5

I don’t have a Port-A-Tree, but I do have DragTracker iPhone app. Here’s how I use it. I watch live events, pick a lane, and mimic the process until they both are staged, then focus and release on the practice tree. At first I was all over the place. I did this for over a year, while I was unable to race. To make it more realistic, I eventually only released once or twice an hour, just like later rounds. When I finally made it to the track, I was -.002 to .000 over 5 passes. Sounds anecdotal, but seeing the tree over 3 days felt like I had hundreds of seat time stages. YRMV. Oh, by the way, a good friend with a trackside parking space at CFR, got in trouble for practicing with a full size Port-A-Tree. lol

.002 to .000 would send me over the moon. My head would be so big my helmet wouldn't fit no more. LOL Back when I didn't have a consistant car my number were great but when my car got better my numbers got worse. Go figure . Hope to be a lot better this next season.. I sure hope this 295 dollars spent will help my old butt.
