Had a great weekend racing just couldnt close the deal
Was racing the ANDRA Summit Racing Sportsman Series here in Australia .
Was at South Coast Raceway (1/8 mile)a track ive not raced at . 15hr straight drive in the Plymouth .
Had a few struggles again . Could not get car to hook up regularly . 9 passes in t&t for 2 clean runs . Dropped 2 step played with shocks . Eventually went to footbrake leaving @ 1500 went 6.57
I race Super Street . No box 10.00-12.99 (1/4), 6.37-(1/8)
Qualifying was Saturday , 3 shorts . First pass i spun for high 6.70s and top qualified by 1 1/2 tenths . Next 2 passes hooked for 6.61 and a 6.62
Race day Sunday , 5rounds . Suprised with a first round bye .. Track looks good . Foot brake for a 6.61 on a .62
2nd round . Drive around other lane for a win . Throttle sticks on finish . Thats weird . Seem to locate and fix it
3rd round . Crack the tree hard spin tyres . Other lane misses tree i drive around him for the win . Throttle sticks again ! Back in pits primary shaft has moved 2mm to cable side accel pump arm fell off cam and stuck . Press shaft and it clicks into correct position . I dunno why ?
4th round . Another bye ! Track looking patchy and bald . Spin . High 6.60s
Final . Drop to 1350rpm . Argh ! 0.22 red and spun like mad .
Frustrating but good points .
Have to pull carb this week and run tappets .
Back there again next month .
Be remiss for me to say . My mate won Super Sedan (box) in his 409/540 W powered 62 Belair and another mate went semis in my class .

Read that repeatedly and couldn’t find the “.” In that 15hr…. That’s a serious drive to thrash a car!! Gotta ask…. What’s you’re backup plan if something breaks?? Nice outing for sure!!

its more i cant afford/justify a pickup and trailer , $20K for 2nd hand $40K new . If it breaks , uh . Tow truck , bludge , rent a ute/trailer .
I have done this a fair few times . Last time used up 2 fuel pumps and raced on a Carter gold pump , lucky it was 1/8 mile .

Now if i can only get my traction back
