I have a 1970 Roadrunner and I want to use 1971 Roadrunner bucket seats in it. How can I make this work?

Early 1971 seats with the separate hinge covers or later 1971 seats with the hinge covers molded in to the plastic back?

What year are your tracks?

70 b body uses a one year only track. 71 uses ebody tracks. They are shorter than 70. The seats will fit but later 71 used a one pieces back with the hinge covers molded into the back. They had chrome release buttons. 72 were the same but had black release buttons. They can be modified if you find some 70 hinge covers and backs.

Am I missing something? Why can't you just mark & drill holes in your floor, bracing it with a small plate or fender washers? Won't sit evenly? Put some spacers under the tracks. I did this to mount some 70's Camaro seats in my '70 rr back in high school, using '70 Monaco tracks.

Coincidentally, I'm actually planning on pulling the carpet to do some maintenance in the next few days, and their happens to be some '71 E-body bucket seats sitting not 10 feet away from the car. Guess I'll see for myself what the issues are.
