The new Clevite rod bearings I have don't have a notch in them to match the oiling notch in the the rod cap, that I believe oils the opposite piston. (The old bearings had notches in them). Is this wrong or does anybody know of a reason why the bearing shells would not have the notches in them?

(Engine is a 340).

I was told some years back that they will work just fine because there is plenty of oil bleeding to lube the cylinders

I dont think all manufacturers do that, but I know some due. There's such a thing as too much oil on the walls, and there is a lot of splashing going on there like was said.

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

Relax it was over kill. It is not a big deal, don't worry about it. There is plenty of oil splash with out the oil squirt notch. Most if not all after market rods don't have the provision and alot of the bearings no longer do either. Rest easy and put it together.
