Howdy,

I ran across the PRW rocker setup while shopping for bb Comp pro mag kits.

While I am set on going with a Comp 1621-16 steel 1.5:1 kit the availability of 1.6 and 1.7:1 ratio arms from PRW intrigued me.

Has anyone attempted to run the bushed stainless rocker arms with a solid roller.?

PRW rates thsm at 750psi spring pressure coared to Comp pro mags at 850psi. I would be tempted to give the PRW rocker amrs a shot now that they are bushed. From memory they did not bush the early versions and end users had issues with rockers galling on the shaft. Is that correct?

They use very low quality hardware in the kits so if you buy a set from PRW plan on buying new adjusters and new hardware from someone else. I've had a couple sets of PRW rockers over the years and I never used either set on an engine since I just didn't think they looked good enough to take a chance on.

If those are the same ones 440Source was selling years ago, Andy is right. Adjusters are made of glass and the roller tips rattle on their axles in no time.

Also the tip overhangs past the roller far enough that it hits the retainer by a bunch.

The first set I had weren't spotfaced for the adjuster jam nut and while the second set was, it wasn't square to the adjuster which caused the same problem, the problem being the jam nut put a bind on the adjuster and the nut and top of the adjusters were laying on the floor in the morning.

The arm itself seems sturdy enough but by the time you fix everything that's wrong with them, you could just buy the Comps and be done.

If the machining issues have been addressed in the last 15 years or so, I would still be concerned about the roller tip and axle. Mine were bad enough you could shake the arm and hear the roller rattle.

Thank you both for the insight. I assumed they were speedmaster/procomp and to be avoided.

I bought my set used and have been running them since 2014. So how old they are I don’t know. I may have asked the guy but that was 2014 and I just can’t remember if I did or not. But the adjusters and all the rest are fine. The reason the guy sold them is he was having “issues” with the geometry and he did the tried and true lash cap deal and it didn’t work so he took them off and sold them.

I don’t run a ton of cam, but it did take a fairly big correction kit from B3 to get the geometry correct. At .620 lift with a standard small block stem height I thought it was a pretty big correction any way. I’ve heard the bushings are soft, but mine are still in there.

I wouldn’t be afraid to use them.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

They use ball/ball pushrods also with supplied adjusters.
