All new cars and electrification coming in 2024. The days of the gas ground pounders are done. It doesn't say that's happening anytime soon, just that the Charger and Challenger will move to smaller platforms - something that we all thought would have happened by now but sales have been high as is. They will still remain gas powered. For the time being anyway.

It doesn't say that's happening anytime soon, just that the Charger and Challenger will move to smaller platforms - something that we all thought would have happened by now but sales have been high as is. They will still remain gas powered. For the time being anyway. Think again. https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/new...r-in-2024-to-make-way-for-evs/ar-AAR0JFy This writer is speculating and i think wrong. A bit of googling shows he's an EV guy. "Dodge will cease production of its gas-powered Charger sedan and Challenger coupe in 2024 in order to make way for the automaker’s first electric vehicles. " No - They stated they will change the platform those cars are based on, not that they will be EV only. They will offer their first EV then, a separate vehicle. Then he writes: "Dodge had previously announced its intention to produce its first EV in 2024 during a July event covering electric vehicle strategy by the automaker’s parent company, Stellantis. During the event, Kuniskis proclaimed that Dodge would not “sell electric cars — it will sell eMuscle,” which is apparently Dodge branding for its future EVs. The first eMuscle cars will go into production in 2024. " Its first EV, not all being EVs. Then its "At the time, Kuniskis didn’t reveal the fate of the company’s internal combustion engine vehicles. Now we know that they will be phased out as the company shifts resources over to EV production. “These cars that you know today will go out of production by the time we get to 2024,” Kuniskis told Motor Trend. " No - that's not what he said. He said they are changing platforms. Yes - the current Chargers and Challengers won't be available as they are now because of the different platforms. Maybe there will be EV versions but he never said they will ALL be EV. Exactly what the Motortrend piece wrote: "There also will be gas-powered buzz vehicles for enthusiasts in the lead-up to 2024 when the first EV will hit the road, but Dodge will stop production of its current pair of high-octane muscle cars—the Challenger coupe and Charger sedan—in two years and replace them with new cars on new platforms." New cars on new platforms. And an EV also. Maybe no more hellcats, I don't know but certainly still gas vehicles in 2024.

No matter the hype, electric vehicles are not ready for prime time and won't be in 2 or 3 or 4 years. They are still a niche. Surveys consistently show that more than 25% of electric vehicle owners go back to gas. That is a significant rejection by the believers. We may all be driving electric vehicles in the future, but it won't be before some very significant technological break-throughs and infrastructure improvements are made.

There has also been "talk" around the local doughnut shop that Stellantis will be closing the Brampton Assembly Plant after the buildout of the LX platform cars. The new vehicle strategy - per the "insider" is that Stellantis has only 5 platforms moving forward (all from Peugeot). If the "old" vehicle doesn't fit - say goodbye to it. Word on the street was that the new Challenger replacement had to have 14-inches chopped from it.
If the Ontario plant is closed, the hot real-estate market in the Toronto suburbs will add tens-of-millions of $$$ to Stellantis's bank account. I hope the workers are taken care of.
One more item...the Auburn Hills Tech Center - they have had a hiring freeze for almost a year. Folks have been leaving, finding new jobs at GM and Ford or EV start-up Rivian. Retirement packages were issues to those over 55. Some engineering teams may have had 20 people and they are now down to 8. HR will not let managers hire new - local bodies. They can only hire contract workers from other countries like India. However, Canada qualifies as an outside country - so the Stellantis folks are telling me HR is hiring contractors from Canada - and the Canadian Government is subsidizing the hiring by paying 25% of the employees salary!
Just another way we are seeing US jobs exit the country.

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

Sir, how DARE you state FACTS. You must get with the craze- Get an EV now and deal with the many documented and proven factual shortcomings of an EV later.

Our power grid sucks so bad that the power goes out when we have 3 consecutive 90+ degree days Michigan's power grid cannot support the need for energy when all the Michiganders put their AC on at the same time.
And now you want to add home charging stations to the mix - good luck! Heck, we had 13 mph wind gusts and we lost power for 2 days.

No matter how hard they try to pique my interest and excitement for the future it's not working for me. I'll wait and see but I don't have a lot of hope (but I will keep somewhat an open mind) for the new Bidenmobiles and I'm definitely hanging on to my V8 RWD gas-mobiles.
Facts are stubborn things.

Hey, hey. Lets not bring logic into this discussion. This is about emotions and stuff
