I took so many pictures it will take a bunch of time to sort out! That hemi Challenger is cool, I was really drooling over the 69 hemi Coronet R/T that got unveiled there after its restoration too. A ton of Mopars there this year. As usual, taking in all the incredible cars at the show is overwhelming. My T/A is getting a Mr Norms memorial pick award.

Darn, sorry to hear that. Doing some limited Wednesday move-in was a new and probably one year only deal because the previous convention postponed their event to winter. Every other year we must wait until they finish their move out Thursday morning to begin. Only limited staff there yesterday otherwise there would have been MCACN staff there to intervene. Heading out in a few minutes, I’ll be watching the Bryn Mar exit door today and Friday, stop and say hi if you’re there. I’ll be in the stage area Saturday and Sunday. Any issues whatsoever please find a MCACN staff member to assist! The fire code rules are 1/4 tank or less for cars on display, and battery disconnected. The 1/4 tank of gas is what caused this issue in the first place. It's a race car, it has a VERY small tank on it. Yes, it was full, BECAUSE IT'S A SMALL TANK. Does a 72 pro stock car sound like a car that has a large fuel tank? Any normal car with a 1/4 tank of fuel would have MORE fuel in their tank than we did. The fire marshal yelled because we had too much fuel, even when he was told it's less than 5 gallons. There were two marshals there and 1 of them said to crank the car and let it run because they had no way of draining the tank. They said to run it for 10 minutes and that would be fine, that's what was done. Captain idiot came over FIVE times to complain after the car was shut off that no vehicles were supposed to run in the building. Never mind I have video of 8 semi's running inside the building at the same time this all happened. All of this was over the fact this old dude was mad the car was ran. The dumber of the 2 fire marshals response when all this went down: "I'm not a cop, I can't do anything". Chicago's finest. That's a shame what happened, I've been a victim of similar show/event sh!tshow circumstances, .....sounds like what happens when NON-automotive minded individuals are given control over an event, and STAFF/Event Organizers are not present to correct/override the situation with some commonsense MikeG

The rules are arbitrary and set by the city of Rosemont's Fire marshal. 1/4 tank is the rule. If trying to minimize fire risk, does it make sense to apply the rule across the board regardless of whether it is a race car with a 5 gallon tank or a custom van with a 40 gallon tank? Of course not, but they made the rule and the show has to abide by it. Everything else went fairly smoothly with move-in except for a trailer parking snafu. The marshalling yard where participants are allowed to park trailers for the weekend after unloading the cars, had a bunch of its capacity taken by semi trailers the city had assured wouldn't be there. Then an auxiliary parking area next to the railroad that we were given permission to use, we were suddenly told we couldn't use by an irate railroad policewoman who I was told was ranting about the Kenosha trial verdict that just had come out Friday. So a mad scramble happened to find another place, and find the owners of a couple dozen trailers already parked there to move them. The hall gave permission to park some trailers in a section of the convention hall the show wasn't using, so in the end that worked out. Getting space to park 100's of car trailers and rigs is always one of the biggest challenges of organizing this show. That is why patience and understanding from participants is greatly appreciated, coping with all these crisis's that pop up during move in and move out is tough work!

All in all the show was a big success once again. The amount and quality of high end musclecars was overwhelming, even after being there for 4 12+ hour days I know I missed seeing some cars. My T/A got a prime spot on the floor, and I was honored to get a Mr Norms memorial pick award for my car. Saw a lot of people I know and met some new friends. Only downside was at the end. After Jim trailered my car to my house, I got the car back in the garage, I searched my pockets and the car trunk and interior and couldn't find my pocket camera. I even drove back to the hall and looked around the last places I had been, I took a couple pictures with it heading back to my car to fire it up and leave, from when I signed out in the employee office so had it then, Unless it fell out in Jim's truck and he finds it while cleaning out the passenger side, I guess its gone. Fortunately I had a little energy left Saturday night after I got home and had downloaded my pictures from the first 3 days, and I also take a SLR camera with me, that didn't get lost. I only get a few chances to take pictures with the SLR camera as I can't be working at the show with a big camera hanging around my neck, so carry the pocket camera to take a few pictures here and there as I run around (hobble/limp around more accurately). Anyway, I'm bummed I lost the camera, but it was getting a little long in the tooth and I was thinking of buying a new pocket camera soon anyway, but am upset I lost my Sunday pictures! Here are my albums of pictures of the show-

I apologize that my Flickr album links aren't "live" clickable links. I don't know why, but over the last year or so here on Moparts many times when I post a link to a web address it isn't live, and as much as i play with editing my post I can't make it work. If anyone knows why or how to rectify this let me know. If you look at the E bodies.org site there is a MCACN thread there and I posted my Flickr links and they are live links on that site, if you want to save having to copy and paste the links into a browser. I'm already excited about next year's show. They have announced the dates as November 19 and 20. Bob Ashton announced that the show is considering moving up a few weeks as there is a possible opening on the hall schedule and that would give us more set up time, as with the exception of this year, there is always a convention prior to MCACN that doesn't sign off the hall to us until Thursday morning with the weekend before Thanksgiving time the show has been happening. I am trying to organize a "Malaise era muscle, the often forgotten years 1974-1983" feature display, so anyone out there who has cars like a Supercouple, kit car, 75 Roadrunner, hang 10 Dart etc in stock show quality condition and would be interested in entering their car in the show next year, let me know! The display will be all makes so I need the "other guys" cars too, and am looking for leads on those cars like Monza 2+2, Laguna S-3, King Cobra Mustang and so on too. I haven't been involved in getting a feature together for the show, so I am looking forward to doing this.

And my trailer was blocked in by an inconsiderate individual with a ramp truck, found out it was a car dealership owner from Cuyahoga Falls, OH and his personal phone number was not searchable to I had to wait an hour for the guy next to me to show up and move his rig so I could get me trailer out and move two local cars, then take one to Indy and get back at 4:00 AM to get three hours of sleep so I could take the last car to Nashville, TN. Just got home tonight on Tuesday at 6:30 PM. That is my rant about MCACN this year, besides that it was an awesome show even though I got "cancelled" from judging, so I actually got to see the cars and BS with my peeps! If I ever get to Ohio I will visit Don Sitts Chevrolet and take a new Corvette out for a hot lap...

There are plenty of gas rules at many shows. Every show is different and that must be investigated before you go to a show so to follow the rules. I always thought that in the beginning of 1972 in the rule book that is says you must use a stock tank. This was used in the car I work on a 1972 Pro Stock Cuda, Still use the stock tank that has a drain plug and that plug was installed because the gas failed at an NHRA meet coming from Canada to the USA. Now what would of happened if the person that got touched decided he was assaulted and took thing in his own hands and things got out of control. Some times it is better to just walk away as was done. Unloading for these shows is always a Shtshow and stressful. Chicago seems to always toss Winter Weather in the mix for the fun of trailering you car to the show on this weekend. As for Canadians many did not even look into bringing their cars to the show. There are 7 1971 Hemi E Bodies within 10 miles of each other just east of Toronto but the board was not open to bringing them till less than a week before the show, .The Canadian Government still wanted a Neg. test to come back into Canada even after they did open the boarder up for travel to the USA and that test is a pain in the butt to find a place to get it and is far from free. So the 1971 year was missed by the Canadian cars that is to bad but it is only a show and maybe next year some will take a car or two.

I went the year all the owners of the EBody Convertibles decided to bring them. The roads around Chicago were a mess. Inch or two think ice on Freeways and I was the only one I could see that had sticky snow tires on. Most could not get moving on the Freeway. Only good thing was once out of Chicago driving to Detroit no on wanted to drive the the snow covered left lane, so I just wheeled over and stayed there passing everyone. Just did not understand were all the plows were and salters and why People do not put their snow tires on once it gets to correct temperature for them and for weeks it was at that Temperature. I decided than My 1971 Hemi can stay in the garage and not make a snow covered white knuckle trip to this Chicago show.
