I have my 09 Challenger listed on Autotrader since September and got no responses except scammers and lowball flipper companies like Peddle for a month and a half.
Put the car to storage a few weeks ago in preparation for winter and was going to let the listing expire, and then I start getting some legit responses. Go figure.
One guy keeps messaging me asking for a GAR report which he describes as having title and accident history, sounds like Carfax.
I said I never heard of it so he sends me a web address for it. I did a google search for GAR report and didn’t find anything automotive related. Sounds scammy but before I start ignoring the guy I thought I’d check to see if there is a GAR report on car histories or if this is some scam to get me to go to a website that will steal my cc info or hack my PC?

Tell him to run it and if he buys the car you'll deduct the cost from the price.

Funny thing in one of his messages he said don’t use services like PayPal or Venmo to pay or it will delay the report by a few days.
I have never responded to a for sale ad on Autotrader, do you need to log in? It would be good to be able to report scammer replies to your ad to them if they have anyway of pinning down users who do that.

Never used Autotrader, online anyway. So I have no idea.

I got the same responses when I was selling my BMW last year. I told EVERY potential buyer that I was not going to run any reports. I never got the idea that they were serious as all they wanted was the report run.

The scam is they work for "GAR" so when you pay for the report you are paying them. They have zero interest in your car.
