I'm trying to figure out what trans kit to order for a 727, 62-70 or 71 up. The numbers on the pan rail are j2801543 3653112. There is no vin stamped on the raised pad. The part number leads me to believe it's a 67-68, no vin me think it's a pre 69 but the date code is Oct 71? Thanks for any help.

Stamped date codes are unreliable prior to '68. To determine the kit you need, look at the plug in the accumulator boss; early is lower, close to the pan rail.
