I was thinking of going this weekend, but noticed my belts expired in may
Will they give me a hard time over it

I texted a couple buddies and asked.

Paul (High School Program guy) said
"It's the luck of the draw, depends what guy you get" (tech)

"So they let me run, but told me I need to update my belts before next time at the track.
Guess May depends on the NHRA numbers/class he is running"

I agree it is hit or miss. You could most likely get away with the belts being expired if they are not too far out of date,and plead ignorance on the expiration date. They have checked the belts the last few times I ran a friends car there in 2020/2021. (The typical Pro / Super Pro type car.)

Back in 2010 or so, they checked everything, and I mean everything @ Monster Mopar. Pissed off quite a few racers. A lot of it was due to the 'holier than thou' attitude of the kid doing tech. I about got escorted off the property due to questioning his knowledge.

With that said, my wife's Barracuda runs low 11s, but looks stock at a glance, so they just write numbers on the window and I'm on my way. Been that way since 2007.

thanks guys, about what i thought, the belts expired in may, and its a high 6.20 car i will have to slow down to 6.40 to be legal. think i will pass and go somewhere else. maybe terre haute in. for there lucky 7 race

Just tell them they are on order, took me 4 months to get my last set, I sent to get redone.; Went to three tracks this summer and they all let it slide, everybody is having trouble getting belts. and there is no way they wear out in a couple months anyway. NHRA says the sun rots the material, heck, I bet my belts don't see the sun more than a week in two years. It sits in the trailer. Hell every circle track car in the country uses out of date drag racing belts. They wreck cars many more times than drag racers.

This is the reason that that two year belts replace is a bunch of BS .

that has been my peeve as well for years ! if 50 year old "stock" belts are safe to use in a low 12 second ride, 10 year old 3" race belts ought to be good for low 10 second rides !
