The upper part of the guard bolts to the cross bar brace, I believe, (Reinforcement Upper) that runs between the bumper brackets and the lower part bolts to the lower valance. Not all cars have the cross brace needed if it wasn't a bumper bracket car.

Thanks for the picture. Is there a brace that is behind the lower valance that the bottom bolt of the bump guard gets connected to? Thanks again.

I don't think so, it just bolts through the square holes in the valance. The guards are more or less decorative.

My Bee doesn't have the guards but that is my understanding.

Here are some photos of the supports for the bumper guards.

I hope they are self explanatory but it you need some better ones, just let me know.

Len, thanks for the pictures. Could you get a shot of the whole brace length wise with the adapters that the guards bolt to. Thanks again. Kelly

The brace shown in the diagram above listed as 13-64-72 is what the 1970 specific Coronet brackets tie too. (brace 13-64-72 also used on 1969 and 1970 Chargers)

The outer ends of that brace (referred to occasionally as a bow tie brace) bolt to the bumper brackets, but all 1969-70 Chargers & 1970 Coronet bumper brackets have the mounting holes for the brace.

Due to the different bumpers & valence on the Chargers, while that brace is the same, the front bumper guards and the adapter brackets are 1970 Coronet models only, Super Bee, Coronet R/T, the 4-doors, station wagons, etc.

I may still have a set of the guards and brackets here somewhere..........

Thanks Alaskan_TA , he's got NOS everything except that brace 13-64-72 p/n 2856659 original to 2962614. Time for him to go on the hunt!

I would be interested if you have them. They look good on the Bee's, the rears not so much
