If a guy was wanting to build a BB pump gas, aluminum head, stroker motor now days what parts might be unobtainable? Are there certain combos that work around these issues or are we simply at a stand still until some crucial parts become readily available.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Although some street/strip type oil pans are available, I have not found a race oil pan (chassis style) all year. Recently, a member sold me a new old stock Milodon chassis oil pan and swinging pickup for external oil lines. Had the same problem last yr. Ended up ordering a pan from Billet Fab. What was promised as a 4wk turn around ended up being 3 months. Supply chain, delivery and labor issues are making things difficult.
Ok

Most stuff is available but dont be in a hurry for sure. Oil pans are a definite issue. but Billet Fab, Williams, or Winchester Metal works can make you whatever you need. There are also plenty on the secondary market if you look around. You may find bearings will even be hard to come by depending on what you are looking for.

FWIW, everything I have needed this summer that was on back order was found through wanted ads. Lots of people are sitting on unused parts due to pandemic related issues (financial, track closings, etc.) and there isn't a great place to market stuff for a lot of us used craigslist and ebay to sell stuff. I know we are sitting on a pile of parts that will be sold through various forums this fall/winter.
Good luck in your search!
