Since being 'done' with NHRA class racing I'm building my first bracketeer and it's going to have that 3rd pedal...just gotta have that 3rd pedal! I've used Liberty pro-shifted 833s and my own crash box version in a couple of cars but I'll be going a little more serious with this one. I found a Doug Nash 4+1 at a good price but I'm also considering the Liberty LSC5000. Has anybody used or is anybody currently using a 5000 or the 5100? What's your opinion on these transmissions? What's your opinion on the DN 4+1? Thanks...

The Nash is a good transmission but it's still like a "pro-shift" box. The new Liberty uses Faceplate sliders and dog rings that shift much faster and last longer than the Nash sliders and gears. I have a Richmond that I converted over to a Faceplate about 15 years ago and it shifts like butter at full throttle. It cost me about $1100 to have the gears cryo-treated and the faceplates installed and new sliders. The new LSC box has a much stronger case with a better mainshaft support system than the Nash does.
Clean sheet of paper I would probably go with the Liberty and you will have something that will last many seasons of beating without any failures. Throw a Long V-gate on it and some heim joint linkage and you will LOVE driving it twocents

The 4+1 mentioned is faceplated and is in very good condition at a very reasonable price, (even though it is 'old technology' it's a starting point). I talked to Paul at Liberty and the (5000/5100) transmissions are excellent and with the Long shifter but that $5100-5800 price tag is somewhat of a 'sticker shock' compared to about 1/3 the cost of the Nash! Nonetheless, I do understand about starting off with a newer part on a new project. Always something to consider...thanks!

Why are you done with class racing? I’m thinking of stepping into it. ??

If you don't go to Classracer.com you should.

While lots of folks have lots of issues many people participate in class racing at both the division and national level and in my opinion Stock and Super Stock racing is heathy and you should try it.

Go to some races and talk to class racers, most are good folks that will welcome you.

Been reading that site for 7 years. Nothing new but a bunch of bitching against the 340 cars (LD 340 intake) and their ford and Pontiac lead sleds can’t get into the show. Worse than a ladies sewing class.

Call G Force and see if they have a refurbished gf5r. Same foot print as a Nash box and much stronger.

Looking good! I like how the forward cage bars go through the dash.

How come you let off the gas when you shifted? : D Never tried that! I would imagine it is harder on things than staying in the throttle.
