I've been looking at the HF 2 ton underhoist safety jacks.

Underhoist Jack

When I looked at them in the store they looked a little chintzy to me. Does anyone have any recommendations as to alternatives? I'm more concerned with quality than price. If a vehicle comes off the lift, I don't move as fast as I used to.

I have one of these. Probably not what you are looking for.

I have two of those and see no issues with them.

My buddy has one of those lifts at his shop. It doesn't [censored] the best, but it will lift a vehicle off the hoist pads. I've seen them chain a truck frame onto the hoist and compress a coil spring.
Mostly what they use theirs for is support under the rear axle when they put an extended cab truck on the hoist. They make working under those big loads feel a bit safer.

IMO they're meant to stabilize the car from rocking while on the lift not support it. So they are probably fine. But I'm sure you can find more expensive versions twocents

I've seen those use to hold up a transmission tail shaft so they could remove the cross member to replace the tranny mounts, work good up

Thanks for all the comments. up I guess if I get the HF version and I don't like something, that's what a welder, drill press, and bandsaw are for.
