Well, the Drama continues....the nice large Gen I bought that was brought in for a quick easy repair at the factory authorized place that took forever and then stopped taking my calls finally picked up. was supposed to be an easy repair and they never did it. Then the hurricane hit and they say it was taken.
So looks like after a few days of calls I may get a replacement but nothing compares to what I had. Mine was larger in Wattage, size engine {Honda} or quality wise.
This is a step-down but still better than zip. the Carbed model is 6500 and the FI one is 7000 thoughts on FI?

During the Houston TX freeze and power outage my younger brother bought the 6500 watt Ryobi at Home Depot and it worked OK during the 4 days that he used it. He investigated getting a natural gas conversion for the carb. Has the Honda engine.

Cliff Notes} Upgraded to nice Honda Powered Gen since wife needed back up power for her home office {Hospital job per her contract. had to be back working within 30min. And we lose power here if a squirrel farts
Note} the one that blew a rod was not even supposed to be in service but was used VS nothing
The new one broke and was taken to the factory service center run by Mr. Haney who never fixed it and ditched my calls for a month who now says it was stolen.
So looking into getting something to replace and nothing compares It was top of the line. Factory can not build them as no parts due to shortages.
So looking at my opinion on what I posted {it is a step-down but what ya gonna do something is better than nothing} Must be made by the same parent company
So asking if getting one that has no Carb and FI ok...

it will be better than carbed for ethanol fuel.
the only draw back is being able to convert to multiple fuel sources.
if that isn't an issue to you, then I would say fi is the way to go.

the gen I have is dual fuel and if I could, I would convert to tri fuel, but not willing to spend the extra for that right now.

Sounds like you need a portable genset NOW. Something is better than nothing. That jackass that STOLE your generator and ducked your calls and lied to you needs a BEATDOWN.

Hopefully you won't let that one go. He needs to replace your genset with the same model, brand new, when this is done, and you should take his silly ass to court for pain and suffering.

If I ever install a back up generator, I'd run it on propane. Pump gas is obviously a PIA with constant refills and post event gouging / shortages. Natural gas isn't an option here and no guarantee it would be available after a storm anyway. A 500 lb propane can somewhere high and dry should run it for at least a week and never been in the dark more than 3 days. Over sized solar / battery setup will likely happen before a generator.

Absolutely. A small power plant I worked at had a Waukesha 6 cylinder gasoline emergency generator. Never reliably started. Converted it to natural gas and the no-start problems went away. Propane would offer the same reliability.
