That boat gas tank is a classic, ya I would love to film it going through any tracks Tech.and see the face on that person. Can you imagine the list of what it would need. and it would take so long that no one else would be able to go through Tech.

In that day (I was there) helmet and seatbelt was all you needed. That car was great, it had a ‘roll bar’. We used VW gas tanks. I would like to know what those contraptions are over the frame in the trunk. Adjustable spring hangers, looked again. Washer bottle could be VHT, push button and squirt on tires. Neat trick then. We had to put it down ourselves the track never did it. Get so sticky on the line your shoes would stick and foot would pull out.

Even in the last ten years one tracks tech line was at the gate, your $25 got you passed. One wreck in 25 years, grudge run and way to much engine, big nitrous and big engine, wasn’t ready for all that, low 4s in the 1/8th. Racers are smart enough today to know what’s not safe, more so than the wanna be big time tech jocky who works at Walmart during the week.

Looks pretty rust free.
Could probably be brought back to something fairly “normal” with less work than some are doing with pretty rotted out hulks.

Many moons ago, it looked like this .. for the time, it was fast , late 70's it ran 10 oh's .. dipped into the 9's
One day, after a dry hop a 3/4 break bar rolled out of the car at the line
Dick Dyce a one time big time drag racer had it stashed for years , he owned couple large salvage yards, hence the name

Yup, the car is pretty rough, been around a long time. The 60's &70's bred a lot of cars that were much like this one. I bet there are a lot of us who raced stuff that we wouldn't admit to today, but the sport drew a lot more attention in those days. More folks could afford and relate to it. Few have the desire or funding to get involved today.I try to remember where I came from, so my head doesn't get too big for my helmet.Recognizing the need for a REAL safety update, that Mopar still has potential and survived those cool early years where we learned a lot and had fun at the crowded events on regular weekends. Those were some really fun times! Not gonna happen like that again. Bill Parts were hard and expensive to come by back the to. You built and raced what you could . Back when that car was running that good we were barley breaking into the mid to low 12s. Work on your junk all week to in my case go out on friday and saturday nights to make some money on the streets. I would have loved to have a car like that back then.

I agree with Cudaman on this one. This car is rough, but not much rougher than mine was 11 years ago. I was racing a bunch of tracks down south and while my car was more like an 11 second car, the only things I see I had on this one were a fuel cell and a 6 pt roll cage. My harness was never in date, my fuel lines were all rubber, my firewall looked like swiss cheese and my roll bar padding was the pool noodle stuff they still sell today! I did have a battery cutoff and water overflow.
Getting it back out this year I have had to do a lot of upgrades, new fuel line, new padding, close all the holes in the fire wall, locking transmission dipstick, engine diaper, new harness, new helmet, new front brakes. The car is safer now for sure, but certainly none of this made it go faster.
