Yeah, yeah.... Call a cam grinder. I know. I did, and they recommended the same cam I have on my shelf aside for a stroker I am also working on. Seems like too much duration based on what I've read and what is shown in catalogs. So looking for advice here too, to see what falls in line with what as I call a second cam grinder for a second opinion and go back through my "how to build" and "how to hot rod" small mopar books.

Did I mention I don't need anyone to tell me to call a cam grinder?

Engine is a late 360 LA roller motor. Heads are 308's that I am porting to the mopar performance templates. Pistons will be KB107s on SCAT I beams, and a factory CFD cast crank. Intake is a Edelbrock Performer RPM. Doug's headers, with full T/A exhaust. Rest of drivetrain is 727 auto with a PTC converter that stalls at 2400 with my current engine, and 3:23 sure grip 8 3/4 turning 255/60/15 tires. All stock 1971 Challenger.

Looking for a cam that will be a decent all around street cam. Would like more bottom end torque than I have now, but don't want it to completely out of performance on the highway.

Current engine is about 20 years and 200,000 miles old with KB107 in icecream cone shaped cylinder bores, stock rods and crank, unported 308s, Weiand Stealth, headers, and flat tappet cam that I think is 270/270 470/470.

Who did you call? Don’t be married to catalog numbers.

270 is @0.050" or adv duration? Adv duration numbers vary, as each manafucturer measures it differently. It's not a good point of comparison

I would not go past 225-230 @0.050"...not enough stall and not enough gear, it'll make for a non-responsive throttle and slow moving engine through it's RPM band.

What are the recommendations you got so far? Compression ratio and head flow numbers would help a lot.

I would go 224@ .050, 108lca and with 1.6 rockers about .570 lift if you can get the oem heads to accept that.

Richard Holdener just got a 360 magnum to run on the dyno, might want to tune in to see what he tests on it.

My combo is somewhat similar. 73 Challenger, 360, 9.0-1, LD340, 650 Holley DP,TTI headers and exhaust, ported factory heads. It runs a 220@.050 Crane hyd roller. with 1.6 rocker. 275 60 tire with a 3.55. 2.47 1st 4 speed. Runs on 87 octane. Drives excellent on the street. Has been 12.70s with sticky tires. I'll dig out the cam card.
