Hi Fellas
So, I’m building a 528/540 stroker on a Callies 440 block, trickflow 240 heads, ProFlo XT4 MPFI forward facing intake with at this stage an F-2 Procharger aim is NA 600hp, 15psi for around 1100 hp there about’s roughly, I have a TREMEC TKX and Dana in a 1970 RR.
Question is,,,,,, flywheel, clutch and bell housing, what to get???? This car is basically a street bruiser, rarely see drag strip use apart from the odd street day.
Will I absolutely need a scatter shield type bell housing or will one of the aftermarket alloy ones be ok,
Centreforce make some fine looking clutch/flywheel assemblies, SST do a nice single plate unit.

What’s the general consensus out there please???

In addition to the 1,100 HP, your engine combo will also produce tons of torque.
I personally would go with a Scatter Shield Bell housing…. Just to give me peace of mind for when I did rag the nuts off it on the street or occasional strip use. 😋

QuickTime bellhousing and a twin disc Centerforce.
Turbo Vette guys seem to like them.
I'd suggest contacting Brewers and or a couple clutch/transmission shops to get a better recommendation based on other cars roaming around with boost...

i would call Cale Aronson at Black Magic Clutches, and see what he can do for you. I prefer the Lakewood Scattershield over the Quick Time. More room in the can. We had a issue with clearance in HEMI Joel's car, and the counterweights were rubbing the inside of the can.

The TKX is not rated to take that power. A Magnum isn't either. A Magnum with a PPG gear set will. The newer Tilton ST-246 twin disc are what we have been using in street/autoX, and trackday builds.

OMG....Is that trans even have any hope of living? And I would move up in heads. Either the 270's or a set of ported Indy 325's with the 2.25" intake valve option....

Any clutch that will manage to hold that kind of HP and torque will eventually shred the teeth off the gears in that transmission. I suggest an adjustable unit that you can drop the base pressure down at the track when whooping it. A sintered iron disc with a Long style PP would get the job done but will probably be close to $2500-3000 with a good steel can. I know of a Tim Hyatt clutch that would probably work but will need a new disc installed to make it work with your combo. She may even still have the Lakewood can as well. I can send her a text if you are interested.

Good luck and hope you have a fat wallet because you're going to be breaking parts for a long time. You should probably just switch to a very heavy duty automatic now before you spend $10,000 on busted transmissions and burned up clutches.

You need to stop and reconsider what you are doing. Doesn’t matter what clutch you have that transmission won’t live. Call G Force and have them sell you a transmission. Then, call Cale at Black Magic Clutches or Rob at Advanced Clutches and TALK to them. Let them hook you up. The very last thing you need for a clutch is some junk [censored] twin disc street clutch. And while I’m thinking about it, no matter what scatter shield you get, have a window out in it so you can tune the clutch. If you aren’t willing to do all of that you need an automatic.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

HYATT RACING FOR YOUR CLUTCH AND BELL HOUSING
They will also put a window in the bell so you can adjust the clutch and recertify it

Thanks Fellas, please understand this is a street bruiser, that will on a VERY rare occasion ever get wound up to its potential hp output if at all, he’ll I might even get sick of pissing around with the procharger and revert back to NA. I completely understand the trans is not built to cope with high end hp and I might even get sick of changing gears and revert to an auto as well, but for now, it’s being built with a TKX ans procharger for reasons I need not share, my car, my money, my pain.
Fourgearsavoy, appreciate the offer maybe interested in the can but not the clutch simply due to the car will end up in Australia and specialised custom stuff is problematic to fix over simple off the shelf items if that makes sense.
Appreciate everyone’s feedback and I certainly take it on board and not lightly.
