I have a 1970 E440 HP bare block (standard bore !) and I want to use as the base platform for my 440 +6 Engine.
Aside from the timing chain cover and Main Caps, the block is bare.

Currently in the car is a 1971 G440 (Non HP) (Blue) Engine. It is running but weak and needs rebuilt.
This engine is 100% complete from top to bottom and front to back.

My original plans were to go 440 Source and get a complete kit including Crank, Rods, Pistons, etc...
I've used them before for a 500ci stroker and had good luck with them.

I've heard that the 71 G440 (Non HP) engine I have came with a Forged Steel Crank and good Rods, etc.. so there may not be a need to get a complete kit.

Question:
Seeing that my 70 Block is bare and needs everything, what parts should I pick from the 71 block as a donor and what should I go ahead and buy new ?

Thanks in advance !

Gary

What do you want, the amount of HP, to make in that bare block ?
If money is not tight I would go ahead and build a 10.5 to 11.0 to 1 compression ratio 505 C.I. or 511 or 512 depending on what the bore size ends up, motor with the 440 Source aluminum heads and the six pack set up on the 1970 block twocents scope
Those parts will make 600 HP + without a big struggle up
If money is tight and you still want more power than a near stock six pack motor look at having your 1971 crank offset ground to BB Chevy rod size and increase the stroke to 3.90 or 3.91, what ever the stroke ends up from your crank grinding company and look at KB Icon stroker pistons to get the compression ratio you want scope

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
