Legit or re stamp? Fonts look good to me but no pad machine marks? It came with a 70 Challenger RT I bought, car is pretty nice with original paint , I do not have tag or sheet yet for build date , block is cast 4/7/70

My guess would also be restamp, but it seems that is an unlikely VIN for that late a cast date. What is the build date on the door sticker (assuming it's still there)?

What if it's a warranty block/engine and the stamping was done by a dealer................?...................or a new person, first day on the job at the engine plant..............or....

with different light or photoshop it looks like faint machine marks and if an original VIN was there and removed would any original machine marks still be there.........personally I don't think so. Did you pay big bucks because the claim was "numbers matching"?

LA VIN stamps are often "POORLY DONE" - what does the transmission VIN stamp look like?

the 4*7*70 cast date seems too close shruggy the car would've been "scheduled" 4/30/70 - what's the assembly date of the engine - is it 383 or 440?

The block was definitely through machine shop and possibly cleaned or blasted, I did not or really don’t care if it’s correct, putting Hemi in for a driver, it’s a really cool car with original paint, has a lot of imperfections but overall nice, I don’t have the transmission. Here is a picture of build sheet, fonts look correct to me , my plan is to just save block so if I sell it will go with it.
