I purchased a meziere water pump years ago to be used on a street drivin bb a-body, now I'm looking into a radiator and the measurement look like it wont fit.
The radiator is a 2 row w/ 1" tubes and 2 12" fans w/ a shroud.
I am using a 1/4" motor plate.

Is the factory wp that much narrower (depth wise)?

What have you guys done for this?

Any suggestions

Thanks, John.

On my 67 Coronet drag car with a 1/4" plate, would not fit either. I ended up with a remote pump.

I use a frame mounted remote pump in the A-body. The thick motor plate makes space too tight to mount one on the block, even with the slim electric fan.

I had two BB A-body cars with Meziere's mounted on front of the motor, thick motor-plates, big radiators and large twin shrouded fans on the engine side. Basically the same thing with the new car as well.

On my cuda the big Meziere pump won't fit. I use the Meziere pump that drops into the stock style water pump housing.
I have a big Griffin radiator (2 rows of 1.25" tubes) and an electric fan/shroud combo off of a 2003 dodge viper.

Used a BB mezierie pump, 3/8 plate, alternator, vacuum pump, behind a Be-Cool radiator and SPAL Fans. My water pump maybe clears the fans by 1/4 inch in the front. Its a lot of stuff in a small space. Figuring out the engine plate forward was probably one of the most time consuming aspects of this project. Making spacers, finding belts/pulleys to make it all work. I don't think i could have used a shroud or any thicker fans i would have had interference. Luckily the water pump snout dropped dead center where the fans met and had most clearance.

HemiDart68, your using Spal fans without a shroud to make it fit?

The total mounting depth is less with the O.E. housing and electric pump?

The pump from Meziere is 6.8" for 35gpm and 7.25 for 55gpm.

I was wanting to use the 35 since I have it but Meziere recommends the 55gpm for high hp street cars. = less room!

I was trying to fit the 55 gpm pump and the measurement I had was bigger than my current setup...it would interfere w/ my electric fan. It is a single fan in the center of the radiator.

Put the fan on the grill side of the radiator and make it push. Instead of the engine side.
Problem solved.

Pushing really doesn’t work as well as a puller, especially on the street. A minimum 3/4” shroud and 2 staggered pullers may work for him.

Mine clears but it's tight.

In my particular application, that won't work. I'd have to use a different fan setup.

I had to notch the fan housing slightly for the waterpump. It's tight, but it fits my A-body.

I'll get the radiator ordered and trim the fan housings a bit as PolyDart did, worst case I'll have to get a remote pump.

Thanks guys!

John.

Yes sir, two SPAL puller fans. No shroud. Really large Be-Cool radiator, meziere with no restrictor or thermostat. I use Be-Cool coolant on the street. Never hints at overheating.

I have the SD Meziere in an aluminum housing, 2 1" row radiator from Speed Cooling, and AR Engine Plate. It's close, but fits.
