Putting in an old style FM converter in the roadrunner. Nice to have FM and the the NOS converter I bought will look period correct.
Anyway, while testing the converter I tried to pull the antenna wire out of the radio and I ended up pulling the end off the wire. Anyway to re-attach the end to the antenna wire? If so, how?
Thanks

No offense to A12 but that video is definitely a hacks way of doing it and will likely result in signal loss. The correct way is to get a new tip, solder the center and crimp the or solder the shield. I'm sure there are other videos out there showing the correct way if one is inclined to search

No offense taken.........it was over an hour without a response so I thought I would kickstart the thread by posting the first hack video I came across......

I do appreciate you getting the ball rolling, thanks. I did see a few videos like that on youtube before I posted the question. I was hoping I could just "re-attach" the original end to the cable, I just don't know how to do it. I couldn't find any videos/info on replacing/re-attaching an end to the cable.

i used a bunch of those style converters way back when, and they worked surprisingly well ! audiovox was the brand i used, so i can't say how other brands work. the one you show looks like a direct copy of the audiovox units. fabbing a bracket for that should be as easy as a couple of 1/2 or 3/4" pieces of say, 18-20ga. angle and drilling a couple of small holes. if you don't have the screws [probably metric] that bolts the bracket[s] to the unit, be very careful of the length you use, so as to not touch anything inside the case. those screws were super short for a reason. please let us know how it preforms when you get it installed.

lol, the local stereo shop, unless they have an old timer working there those guys are going to think you're the NSA or something and not have a clue what you are asking them to do.
IIRC, and it has been many decades so CRS comes into play here, but red is switched 12v, black is ground. Car antenna into the box, it's antenna lead into the radio. You tune the car radio to a certain AM frequency, usually they have several in case a local AM station is near one of the frequencies. The converter will take the FM station it is tuned to, convert the audio to an AM signal, the one you tune your AM radio to, and your AM radio decodes it back into audio for your speakers to play.
The only reason they appeared to work decently was due to the general state of crappy audio back then.

Yeah, no problems with the installof the converter. I need the end of the factory antenna re-attached as it has been pulled off.

I am not sure that is going to do what he needs as the description, along with the following answers raise some flags. you might try " Motorola radio connector or call Crutchfield. local stereo store "SHOULD" be able to help but with everything going bluetooth etc Who knows? A two way radio or CB place should be able to help as well. It's a 5 minute driveway job

That's what I was thinking on the bracket. Plus it's going in a car with black interior so that helps too! You're right when I was looking for info I saw that it's identical to the audiovox ones. It'll be a while before I get it installed in the car but I do want to test it on something to see how well it works. I never liked the look of aftermarket radios so at least this is a good alternative!

Youre right. That sounds like it might just be an adapter. Radio shack used to sell what you need. Judging by the instructions on the back of the box it should be like this.

That's screwable alright, No doubt about that. Should come with some warming KY. The connector you need shouldn't be more that 2- 5 dollars. Wish you were a bit closer. See the two links below.
Yeah that link I posted or the end is an extremely high price.

Yep. I think it even says Canadian Tire corp on the label on the bottom. I forget now if the part number might have even been the audiovox one when I tried to google it.
