MILESTAR STREETSTEEL Tires came up as a replacement style tire for the COOPER cobra 245/15's. Not an American tire (most are not anyway) and the set looks to be about $100 bucks cheaper. Not ever going to run BFG's, so was wondering if anyone tried these 'Streetsteel' tires. Seem to be a decent amount of reviews on people liking the brand, but found little on this model of tire. Looking for some summer tires for a roadrunner I have been wanting to play with. Anybody ever try these?

Basic cosmetic performance tire, S&T rated, mileage looking tread with 4 large groove, they say they are good for long mileage, so I'd assume reasonably hard tread face. They will probably dry rot before they wear out. Probably low noise looking at the tread design. Couldn't be any worse than Cooper and probably better than BFG.

My local Perfection Tire sells Cooper, Mastercraft & Starfire tires, and got the Goodyears for my trailer; seems they just use different warehouses for what a customer wants.
So far, I've run Starfires & Mastercrafts on a couple of cars that don't require leading-edge stuff, and they've been fine.
Also have a set of Cooper Zeon summer performance tires on another car, and they've been excellent.
In the past I've run T/As, Firestone Indy 500s, and whatever came on the various new & used cars, and rarely had an issue.
Those that did are either extinct brands or really outdated like certain Michelin sports-car stuff.

I just bought 4 redline radials via Diamond back tires. And they are a milestar street steel carcass. Just the redline is on the blackwall side of the tire. And i have no complaints. All 4 balanced up with minimul weights. Car runs smooth and quiteer than the BFGs i took off.

Except the tread and section width is smaller than the exact same size BFGs i took off.

I got 245.60.15 s

Just as FYI from what I remember BFGoodrich Radial T/As are manufactured in Mexico and I think the same for most Cooper Cobra Radial G/Ts now as well. The Mickey Thompson tires are pretty much Cooper Cobras. I have a set of Cooper Cobras from the early 2000s that have "Made In USA" on the sidewall but, not anymore. Few sizes are made in the USA if any for 15" tires.

Not street steel but, my truck has Milestar tires on it; they've been really good. I bought the truck with them on it. They were probably around 1-2 years old and had been sitting for a while. I've put almost 35,000 miles on them and they still look like they're going to go close to another 10,000. I've had the truck for almost 5 years. I would definitely by another set, especially for the money.

Mastercraft tires are horrible for traction and ride. Bought a used Exploder for my daughter with those on it. It'd fishtail going around corners, finally went halfsies with her on a set of Michelin's and the difference was so dramatic that even she commented on it. No idea on the Street Steels though, but my experience has been cheap tires are cheap.

I put a pair of 295 Streetsteels on the Cuda last year. Only because they were the cheapest 295s I could find. I just wanted a pair to burn up when playing around and didn't want to spend much money to do it. So far, they are okay. They were round and didn't take too much weight to balance. They are very hard, spin easily, and don't make much smoke or noise when spinning.

Hahaha that's what I was thinking! I have MC Avengers on my stroker Diplomat (235/70/15). I don't put many miles on it so hard to say about wear. IIRC the treadwear rating is somewhere around 400 so not too bad in the category and the look is real nice. I have them mounted blackwall but the tread pattern is real nice, old school performance look. And the price was right.

Facts are stubborn things.

Yep. You get what you pay for, I guess. Maybe a bit more expensive tire would squall and smoke more. Maybe.

15" tires, soft tread for traction which equals shorter life but eliminates the problem of dry rot, stiff sidewalls for handling, getting what you pay for = Avon CR6ZZ. Street legal, radial carcass, Z speed rated tire for classic sports car racing (Cobras in particular) available in sizes up to 295/50R15 . Of course they are around $350 a tire, but what is grip worth?

MT drag radials won't dead hook 100% of the time, so anything other than something with a wear rating of 000 are totally worthless for traction on the Cuda. So if they are gonna go up in smoke, it might as well be a cheap smoke show............Oh yeah, these turds don't even smoke much. Anyway, they were cheap.

I'm looking for something in 275 60 15. They all say something goofy on the side now (Milestar looks like Smilestar smile ), so maybe I'll use that or Hankook, just to be farby.

68 Roadrunner. 383 4-spd. Beat up.

Damn shame it's so hard to buy American built stuff. Just mounted my Mexican BFG Radial T/A on my China made Torque Thrust wheels. They balanced fine and look OK but still..........
