I finally weighed my cars and was shocked at the numbers.
My '68 A-Body convertible with a full US Cartool chassis stiffening kit, roll bar, stroked aluminum headed 5.9 Magnum, 2004R trans, A/C, BBP wheels with 4 wheel discs and a full TTI 3" exhaust came in at 3750 lbs with a half tank of fuel.
My '70 'Cuda with an aluminum headed 493, Passon 5 speed, Scatter Shield, Dana 60, US Cartool subframe connectors, A/C, Shaker hood, oversized stainless steel fuel tank and full 3" TTI exhaust came in at 4150 lbs with a half tank of fuel.
Both cars have pretty much stock interiors too.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

Nice to know. I am surprised that the E body was over two tons. Mine should be close to that, as mine is similarly set up like yours. mine is My '70 'Cuda with an aluminum headed 440, Passon 5 speed, Dana 60, US Cartool subframe connectors, stock hood and fuel tank and full 3" TTI exhaust.

Not sure which scales you used, but I don’t think they’re as heavy as indicated. My B-body weighs in a touch over 3500 last reading I took. It’s a factory a/c car, however the a/c is now gone and I have aftermarket aluminum wheels. But man, if those scales are right, then that’s awfully heavy!
Yeah looks like your over by exactly 1000 lbs on each car. The first numbers on both readings is 1 number over

Got another scale nearby? Wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion.

Sounds right. On the ‘70 Cuda.... The shaker adds weight, A/C, Dana is a pig, frame and other connectors add up, big block, 3” TTI fence post take-it-to-the-grave exhaust.... “This is Ed Wogulius's 71 Challenger. 340, 4 spd, t/a fiberglass hood, aluminum heads, cast iron ex manifolds, full interior, no a/c, power steering car ... 3455 lbs without driverLast scale reading pic is with Ed in the car. That is F/R 56.4%/43.6% weight split w/o driver. (scale is just reading rear percentage”

These are the weights without driver. You guys are right to suggest I seek out another scale, and I forgot to mention both cars are dynamat'd and insulated too.

They do sound heavy, are you rolling them on and off the scales? I can't imagine that makes a big difference, just curious. See if you can check the calibration on the scales. Years ago I weighed my '72 Challenger, 440,A833,blow-proof,headers,full exhaust, 15" rallyes, turbo mufflers. Pretty sure it was a little over 3700 lbs.

I doubt it’s too far off. It’s all the stuff that adds up.... on the ‘70: A/C, Dana, steel scatter shield, overdrive, rear steel disk vs lighter drum, big 3” thick exhaust. I bet a 100% complete steel shaker setup weigh more than a steel twin scoop hood. How much bigger is the gas tank? I didn’t weigh the barracuda it at Willow Springs ? I see the background of those pictures.

When I first bought it with the original 318-904-4 wheel drum brakes....3660. First iron headed 440 with 727 and 8 3/4" axle....3750.
Hey Franken, that’s one helluva good lookin 70 model, So, I’ve often wondered the difference in weight between a big block and a small block. Looks like somewhere around 90 lbs?

I see the background of those pictures. The stainless steel tank is my own design made by Ricks Tanks. It holds an extra 7 gallons. It's 1 inch wider on each side and has an additional sump on the bottom. I have a hunch that the weights are pretty accurate. Both these cars are set up as open road machines, so they are not too low, have overdrive transmissions and are focused on driver comfort on longer trips. The '70 has 3 bulk packs of Dynamat in it, and the '68 has just over 1 bulk pack. I've found that Dynamat type products are good at dampening panel vibration, but an additional layer of a foil covered matting placed over the entire interior and sealed at the edges with aluminum foil with wax backing type duct tape vastly improves the reflection of a significant amount heat, fumes and noise. Used together, the two products can transform a car.

The 318 had A/C but the stuff all came off when I put in the 440. If you weigh the compressor, the condensor , A/C lines and belts, that could add up to another 50 lbs or more.
