I have a question for those who have used the Milodon 21815 aluminum high output oil pump. The pump is new and came with all the o-rings in place. I contacted Milodon's tech dept. and they told me to use the gasket that goes between the block and pump in conjunction with the o-ring that fits in the groove around the output port of the pump. Seems a little strange having an o-ring and composition gasket over the top of each other on the block to pump mating surface. If anyone is familiar with this specific set up, please jump in here! Thanks, Bill

Don't use a gasket. That's what the o-ring is for.

Chip, have you used this pump without the gasket before? The tech guy at Milodon told me to use both and that seemed a little strange to me.

Tech guy skips out for a leak and tells the shipper "hey, cover my phone for a bit".

I'd use one or the other - not both.

Maybe I'm missing something here. But basically I think there saying is the o rings seal the pump to the pump cover and the paper gasket seals the pump assembly to the block.

iagree up
I have several of those pumps on motors with no gasket between the pump and the block per Toms instructions at Milidon years ago up
My current S/P car runs high 8s in the 1/4 mile at 150.+ MPH, no oiling issues in racing it for 7 years now so far with that type pump on two different motors up

Thanks all, I thought the supposed tech at Milodon was wrong. He didn't sound familiar with the question. Some think I am talking about the pump cover. I am not.The pump body to engine block mating surface has a groove around tha discharge port. It came new with an o-ring in that groove already installed. The pump gasket inMilodon repair kit appears to be for stock style pumps as it would cover an o-ring if installed on the21815 style HD pump. Wouldn't make any sense to me but that's what I was told by their tech dept. He sounded very inexperienced.Moparts comes thru again. Thanks guys! Bill

Yessir, I use that pump on the hemi in my cuda. Been using the same pump since 2003 and have always used only the O-rings b/t the pump and the block. There's no reason for anything else.
