Im looking at possible buying a 69 440 4bl Air Grabber air cleaner assembly but I read some people aren't very happy with the quality of the repopped ones. Factory ones aren't very easy to find and are quite a bit more expensive. Has anybody bought one of the repopped ones and what was wrong with it? I will most likely have to modify the base of it to fit my taller intake/carb setup.

Not a 69 air grabber...but I bought three oval six pack Mopar branded air cleaners last year and all three went back to the vendor. I'm told that we should be "lucky" that repopped parts are so "affordable", so cracked welds, warped lids, and wrong dimensions are a by product of offshore manufacturing. They were $300 each but I'd pay double that for quality.

The 69 440 4bl air grabber lid is an oval piece and believe its the same lid as the six packs but has a different base for the 4bl. So your saying the oval lid is warped? Is it also the same gauge thickness as a factory one? The 4bl base will most likely be shortened somewhat to fit a taller intake carb setup so if its not too warped or too thin I was thinking I might be able to make it work or is it complete junk and nothing really to work with?

HEMI & 4bbl oval lids are the same *** 6bbl is different
