Just here thinking if a guy could use E85 in a dragster or altered without a radiator? It runs cooler than gasoline but would it keep the engine cool enought for a 1/4 mile pass. Would filling a block with water and drain down in the pits work as in old days. What's your take or experiences on the subject? Always thinking ahead on possibilities.

My super pro bracket car has two small oil coolers used as the radiator due to having a 7.5 gallon fuel cell mounted up front where the radiator was mounted.
I race it on pump E85 and it doesn't get to hot at the 1/4 mile tracks as long as I watch it and don't let it get above 220 F during the run. I do have to let it run quite a while to get it up to 160 F before driving it into the staging lanes shruggy
It is a low deck 400 block stroke to 511 C.I. and makes a little over 800 HP with one Dominator carb set up for E85 by A.J. at Bob George racing up
8.86 at 150.+ MPH in the 1/4 weighing 2850 with me in it boogie
Don't get me wrong, i have had it up to 240 F after a run and had the puke tank over flow and spill coolant out in my pits after a run realcrazy

On my alky small block dragster I used a 12 inch B&M oil cooler for a radiator. I had my Barracuda on E85 a few years back and although it did run cooler, I don't think its enough to eliminate the radiator. Definitely doesn't run as cool as Alky.

No way I'd ever do it. If it's a bracket car, why would you wanna create more work on race day? Draining the block after each pass, no thanks. I'd find a spot for a small cooler and a fan and never worry about it again.
