So I bought one of those great looking Repop Belts with the correct part number and "Made in USA" stamp on it - and the thing is junk. No matter what belt tension I use, It keeps flipping upside down and popping off. The old belt never did this. I'm pretty sure I have the correct spacers and certain about pullies. Everything line up nicely and with the exception of a slight wobbler or the alternator pulley, all else is straight and true. I've read elsewhere that the repop belts are prone to flipping and I wish I learned that before spending 40 bucks. Anyway, is there a Dayco or Gates or another belt manufacturer that looks close original? The one I replaced had cog-like cutouts on top of the belt. It worked good but looked awful.

That was the Dayco belt. Looks the worst but works the best. The repop belt is for trailer queen show cars. Use a good belt on drivers or racers. You can always swap them when you get to a show if you really need it to look right.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

What is the number of the belt that keeps flipping over? That is most likely an end belt. It will never be any good. Once a belt rolls over in the pulley, it is no good. I can explain if needed.. Yes, once it comes off it will never be right again. Short story, open the hood after a pass and the belt is off. Put it back on. Next pass, its still on, but inside out.

Here is the belt number. I went to NAPA and they ordered me a belt that doesn't have the cogs in it, at least that's what the picture showed. Should be in this afternoon.
