Trying to confirm which dip stick I have for my 727. Does anyone know the correct length (overall and from tip to full line) for a stock '71 Hemi?

I would think it would be the same as all the others 2466302 which supersedes to 4202951. I thought I had the length written down but I don`t have it at the moment. Edit, I read online people said it was 18 1/8 from tip to base and a ebay ad said it was 21-3/4" Overall

Mine is a 4202951 but when I search the part number, it comes up as a dip stick for a 383 - 440.

Not sure of of yours but the 68-69 deep pan 6 qts is listed in this bulletin. 70 and 71 use a shallow pan but still 6 qts, so the stick may be different. 66-67 only had 5 quarts.

I think he wants the numbers for the Torqueflight stick.

Sorry, I found the correct part numbers for 426 in 70-71 as they are different from the others . 2538849 stick and 2892815 tube. 69 had those same part numbers for the 426 also.

RSI700, I know someone who can make you a new tube & dipstick assy - locking one too. This is all he does. Masta Performance - Dan Masta. He's a total Mopar guy too.

Sunroof - Tube is installed and I'd rather not touch it. Just want to make sure I have the correct amount of trans oil in there. You can get pretty close with an engine oil change (drain pan and put 7 quarts in) but an auto has a converter and 2 coolers, etc. so draining the pan doesn't help with how much more to put in.

That's a great image DS. Wish I could find something like that for a '71.

That was my mistake, that is oil pan stick, not the transmission. Hard to believe actual info not available. Wonder why the stick would change though. Motor, manifold, trans the same, so you would think the routing and tube/stick would be the same.

Mostly because of the different exhaust manifolds and the need to snake the tubes through or around
them probably??

The manifold really did not change. I just went through the 66-71 parts book. The tube changed in 69 from the 66 2538846 to the 2892815. But the indicator never changed part number. Stayed 2538849. Tube probably changed from the bolt on style to the press fit style that mopar did, but the shape probably the same. If some one has an original hemi stick they could post a pic and measurement.

For comparison purposes I checked the dipstick from my 68 RR. I know the dipstick is not a repro. Not sure if this info applies for 71...

I measured from the cap to the end and got 16 3/4"
Cap to F mark is 14 3/4"
Cap to A mark is 15 3/8"

Overall from end to top of the curved handle is 18 1/2"
The dipstick was cut and has two rivets, this is approximately 4"-4.5" measured from the cap. The overlap is 3/4"

I do not see a part number on this dip stick.

Hope this helps.

Jim
