Out of idle curiosity was wondering if there is such a place? If so, would it happen to include a description of car (i.e.- B5, 4 spd, etc.).
I would love to know if a friend's '71 Challenger survived. Unfortunately he has no paperwork with the VIN. B5, 4 spd, white vinyl top, black houndstooth interior, shaker, luggage rack. He bought it from the original owner w/ 12k miles on it circa '78. Traded it a short time later for a '69 427 'vette. Guy wanted the engine for his drag car and I have often wondered what happened to the body. Guy worked in Stone Mountain, GA area.

If the first one was it, I can't understand why someone would change from blue to yellow (different strokes, I guess). Be interesting to see the build sheet for it to see if it had a luggage rack originally. I can't swear to it but I want to say it had a cassette player also.
Bagwell's is in the right area but the 2nd owners name isn't correct (my friends last name is Purvis) and I'm pretty sure I would recognize the name of the guy he traded it to (Kinnett seems to ring a bell though).

Funny thing is, the engine was built by Barnett at about 6k miles. It was a beast. drive
2 B5 4 spd Hemi Challengers in the Atlanta area, I never would have believed it. shock

Talk about weird timing. Just got off the phone with an old friend from work who grew up in Stone Mountain and knew the place I was thinking of. It was Kinnett Auto Parts. Unless Jim Kinnett had 2 identical Challengers, the classracer thread is not correct in the ownership chain. I went with my friend to look at it initially at the original owners house in Lawrenceville, Ga. sometime in '77, IIRC. We drove up in a '70 Torino GT w/ a 429 that my friend bought from his uncle (original owner). Baby blue, bench seat, auto on the column. Stock as the day it rolled off the line but that car was fast. Challenger was sitting in the driveway with 2 flat tires and 1 carb gone (owner robbed it and put it on his Blazer). Owner noticed the Torino and wanted a ride. Wound up trading the Challenger even for the Torino. When we went back the next evening with a flat bed, the owner mentioned Barnett had built the engine at about 6k miles. He also started hauling parts out of his 2 car garage which included a complete Hilborn injector setup and a Judson magneto. Reggie got it running and at one point had the injectors on it. He said they fit perfectly through the shaker hole but I never saw it with that setup. Spring of '78 he traded it to Kinnett for a '69 427, 4 spd. 'vette convertible. Story I got was he wanted the engine for his race car. The friend I just talked to said Kinnett was sponsored by Mopar in Super Stock and maybe Pro Stock but may have gotten away from sponsorship at that time. shruggy Have no idea if Reggie ever titled it in his name but know for a fact he was the 2nd owner and Kinnett was the 3rd. work
Anyway, nice to know it survived as it was a nice car. Thanks for the help. thumbs

He now lives in Florida and has invited me to come down and see the car sometime. It's truly nice to know the car survived.
Thanks again, sixpakdodge. beer

The Bahama Yellow one Ron Adair owned - supposedly came from Bill Drake along with some $$ for the '71 Hemicuda convert. from Indian River, MI. I remember this car having black vinyl seats, not cloth inserts. I took the photos.

Current owner sent me a couple of pictures. He has more but his computer is acting up. My friend and I plan to take a road trip to Florida to see it (and the rest of his collection). up

If it hasn't been mentioned already, In the lost & found section of this forum, there is a dealership invoice for 'race prep' done on 5/17/71 for this car.
