I’m thinking about going the LED route - any thoughts from those who have done it.
1 - any negative comments ?
2 - any recommendations on companies ?

Thanks

I used www.superbrightleds.com for all my stuff (1970 Monte Carlo) and their site is really easy to use. The only thing I didn't like from there was the electronic flasher. It worked good, but did not have the clicking noise for the blinkers. I used a plug in with a tail for a ground. It clicks, but also clicks like 1 or 2 more times after the blinker is off. Rather have the sound than not. All the dash lights were plug and play and didn't have issues with polarity sensitive like some others have said to have with LED. Headlights and blinkers in the dash are the only thing not LED. Forgot about the blinkers until I put it back together and will change them out next time I have the dash pad off.

I also used Superbrightled.com for all my LED purchases this far on my 71' e body. I like that theyr un cooler, and don't tax the wiring or connections as bad. I'm not going LED for the headlights or front parking lights (clear lenses so you can see the bulbs), but everything else is getting them.

I replaced the tail lights, back up lights, and front parking/turn signal lights with LEDs in my 73 Cuda. My primary reason was to reduce the heat under the plastic lenses, because I found that some of the plastic sockets had deformed a bit due to the heat produced by the 1157 incandescent bulbs.
Here are the part numbers that I used:
1) Tail lights - Sylvania Zevo 1157R (red LED)
2) Back up lights - Sylvania 1156 (clear LED)
3) Front parking/turn signal lights - Sylvania Zevo 1157A (amber LED)
4) Turn signal flasher - United Pacific 90652
What I like about these LEDs is that they are a direct replacement for 1157 bulbs and they are really bright! Do a search and you'll find some YouTube videos about them.
The main drawback is the cost. A pack of 2 LEDs costs around $20-$25 and the flasher costs around $15, so it's definitely more expensive than traditional incandescent bulbs.
Hope this helps.

I haven't done headlights yet either. I can't find one that is plug and play and doesn't look funny. I have a spear covering the tip of the front marker light in the Monte. It has a clear lens and amber bulb. Looks good and can only notice it's LED if you get up close enough and look at an angle. If it was an open lens to see the bulb, I would go with a regular bulb.

I am running a set of GE Nighthawk 7" LED headlights on my 51 Plymouth.

Not cheap, really nice though. They do stick out a bit farther than stock but it was plug and play for me. See pic.
