Greetings! I have a 2014 RAM 1500 Express with the 20x9 WR2 Aluminum chrome clad wheels fitted with the Goodyear P275/60R20 Wranglers. Spare is the 17 inch steelie with temporary rubber.
Does anyone have real world experience using a 20 inch steel rim with the same P275/60R20 Wrangler? It appears that part number 05290568AA is the OEM rim and could work. Research shows that this combination will be a tight fit on the under bed carrier but will work. Buying an extra WR2 isn't an option as a spare because of the price, plastic chrome clad, and that the living conditions will beat the devil out of the wheel. There also appear to be economy offshore rims, any thoughts on those? (Rockauto 69955 / 2470)
Thanks in advance!

My 2105 2500 4x4 came with 18" Goodyear tires and had an 18" Firestone spare on a steel wheel! I asked the dealer about it and he said the Firestone tires were $10 cheaper, so the bean counters saved the company $10 times the number of 2500's sold...LOL

Spare was on a steel wheel instead of aluminum which is normal. If you have a different brand spare than someone did a switch and it was not the factory.

Back in by dealership days the spares were removed and stored inside. Once sold the spares were put back on the truck...not always the one that came with it. If the cost was the true reason than it would have had Firestones all the way around $10 X 5...

I bought the truck new from the dealership that sponsors my Mopar show. I looked at it the day after it was taken off the transport truck and bought it that day, so the spare tire was from the factory. The original tires were on steel wheels with chrome cladding and the spare was a steel wheel without cladding.

Look at every other truck and they should not have it. Being a past dealership owner I do know whats right and what is wrong.

I only noticed it when I ran over a chunk of marble in the road and cut the right rear original tire at around 25K miles and had to change it. Not a big deal as I was close to needing new tires by then anyway. As you know the factory installed tires don't last long for some reason...

Not a big deal as I was close to needing new tires by then anyway. As you know the factory installed tires don't last long for some reason... That is because OEM tires are tuned for many attributes (noise, wet/dry/snow/mud traction, rolling resistance, etc), but there is no requirement for wear rate
