For anybody who is also a friend of mine on facebook, I have been hacked, BIG TIME. They took over the account on Tuesday and changed the password on my original account (James Alan Lusk) and locked me out of my new one (Jim Lusk). I do know that several of my friends have received phishing private messages from the scammer. I'm working to get it back, but FB has no real support, nobody you can contact and have a conversation with. If anybody has any connections there I would appreciate any help. The worst part of it is that I manage a page with videos from my high school dating from 1975 to 1988. If I can't get my personal page back that one will need to be rebuilt. Unfortunately I put the videos on FB, not You Tube with links.

Yes I know. I got a message on Facebook Messenger that you were getting a $250K grant from the government tax free and you didn't have to pay it back and that you wanted me to go on a link and get it too! I knew immediately it wasn't you! I was afraid to try and message you though, glad you posted here!

That one is me, but they locked me out of that account so I have no access at the moment. I did find a physical address for FB and sent them a letter today. We'll see if that gets any response.

Algorithm to figure out password. There are actually sites that promote software to figure them out. It wasn't cryptic enough although it was not obvious.

Nah, I was there from 1975 to 1978. These are from a class/club that was run by the teacher that my dad shared an office with for 20 years. The current football coach (class of 1981) four the 1980s tapes in a dumpster. I found the 1970s tapes in an equipment room. I have all the files, but it's still a lot of work to get them uploaded.

I got that message as well. The conversation started out normal, but when “Jim” started talking about investing grant money, my spidey sense kicked in. Fortunately, I am an IT guy, so I’m always skeptical about this sort of thing. I had an email address for Jim and told him about the message. He was already aware at that point.

Mostly text messages and one email. They are being completely non-responsive at this point. I found a physical address so I sent a real letter by snail mail yesterday. Offered to go to their office in Menlo Park to prove who I am...
