Ordered a World Aluminum RB Block this weekend, and was wondering if anyone has used an Indy Wide Oil Pan and Adapter on one before? Anyone have a picture of the Adapter Plate? Will the World Block have to be drilled and tapped to fit the plate? Then is there enough material on the pan rail to machine it? Thanks, Mike

why do you want to use the wide pan?
Good question, unless your running a wide skirt block theres no real benifit. It's not like a GM with the crank hanging out.

i have no clue, but congrats on the new block Mr.Rockefeller.
Just in case you guys missed it, Ray Barton was blowing these BRAND NEW blocks out for $3500. Quite the discount from $5100. And the sale was even advertised on this very web site.

why do you want to do it ?that was my ? if its a big giant speed secret please excuse my ignorance, just thought i might learn somthing usfull.GUESS NOT.
Al, I wasn't trying to be a d*ck. Yes Indy claims about 35 hp over standard pan rail blocks.

The Indy wide rail block has the advantage for stroker clearence and more area to get the oil away from the crank and rods and makes it much easier for oil control systems, scrapers, trays and directional catchers.Does the World offer a wide skirt block?
Bob, you are familiar with the benefits. That's why I want to do it with the World! No, World does not offer a "Wide Rail" block. Indy's block is about 1" wider then the World, that's why I asked if Indy's adaptor plate would fit. Now, as far as I know, Indy's standard block and wide rail blocks are no different in width,(that's why you use the adaptor plate) the pan rail lip on the Wides are machined off flush with the inside walls of the block. We have a Indy wide oil pan already and planed on buying an Indy wide block, but then a deal came along on the World, so we bought it instead. Now I would like to try and make it all work on the World. Looks like were going to have to buy an Indy adaptor plate, mock it up on the World to see if there's enough pan rail there to machine it off. I hope this clears things up on why I want to do this, and as I told Al, I wasn't trying to be a d*ck.

You would definately benifit from the wide pan since there is more room for oil control devises.Indy blocks generally come with both bolt patterns,so I don't think you will have any issue using the wide pan with the adapter.I do not know how much you can safely remove from the world block rails.
