The pans dont look like they would do a very good job of containing oil and parts if it kicks a rod out the side of the block...A diaper runs up both sides of the bock to the head gaskets.

I made my own pan, its lined internally with an absorbent mate. Since I'm using a motor plate I used the engine mounts to connect up to the block. It might not be the prettiest pan in the world, but it passes tech.

My pans are wider and attach to the frame or cage, diapers suck! Hard to get off, get oily, hold heat in motor, just have always seemed like a PIA to me. I have a brake in shop, and access to sheet aluminum. It’s kinda fun to bend up your own. I talked with our NHRA tech guy, and he says there is no minimum spec on material until you get into fuel or top Alcohol type cars. I believe the aluminum I use is .029 or .039, have to go look for sure. Usually can use Addell clamps on cage tubing and slugs elsewhere. Always just have 4 attaching points. Just my personal preference tho. Jim.

I am having to lookin into this too, the track gave me a hard time last time I was there.

For the guys running belly pans the rules state- The belly pan must extend from framerail to framerail and extend forward of the harmonic balancer and reaward to rear engine plate and must incorporate a minimum 2-inch-high lip on all sides. A nonflammable, oil-absorband liner mandatory inside of retention device. See General Regulations 1:8 in NHRA Rulebook.. I have a stock suspension E Body with a 5.7 hemi and I can not see a way to go frame rail to frame rail. In the belly pans pictured I see they just encase the oil pan, has the track given you a hassle for this?

I run a DRE. I’ve had it repaired several times. Service is always quick and easy
