I restored a 69 roadrunner that has factory PW and AC. I have always had an issue with windows rolling up all the way. Fronts do well but rears are mainly the issue. I know motors are working against spring rate going up.

I put it together not knowing if alt is a 37/46 or 60 amp alt. Still do not know. I know now that is should be 60 for my application.

Would an alternator of lesser amperage/output have an affect on window operation? Currently the rate going up does not change much when engine rpms are raised.

Thanks Moparts

You could try lubing the window slides etc.

No. Not for a motor that size. The load of the motor would have to be great enough to exceed the capacity of the alternator and cause voltage to droop. Lights dimming, etc...

If the windows are dragging the motor will request more power from the alt/batt.

Now, you need to find the reason why they are slow, Glass dragging or motor needing service ? armature tracks and brushes into the motors could be needing a service.

ANYWAY, do it a favor yourself, get an alt able to source 45-55 amps minimun at iddle... the more, the better, but at least that. TRUST ME. The charging system ( including ammeter ) will be more relaxed
