i will probably get flamed for but this comment.
if you ask me a non numbers matching 383 charger with different motor than the original one, with a non numbers trans, in the original color. really isn't worth much more than a color changed color one. with all of the changes to it having documentation won't really make any difference.
IT'S YOUR CAR. do what you want with it.

I like both colors but changing is a lot of work, this ain’t no Chevy we’re you just paint the body. Car, trunk and under the hood all have to be painted the same. Nothing worse than a Mopar with engine compartment painted black and car another color and speckle paint in the trunk. This. Door jambs, engine compartment, trunk, underbody and fender wells, radiator support, etc. Unless you are doing a rotisserie restoration it is kind of a pain to do a color change right. And any red paint you miss will stick out like a sore thumb next to that fresh black paint. I wouldn't mess with it if the car was mine...

I like red and don’t like black. Red sells almost as well as a original black car. A color change will turn off both red and black lovers. You have a 68. Not all 68’s had the block stamped with vin. Just like a any 67 can be a “matching numbers” with the non original block. I think a cars value based on the numbers on the block is silly. The value is in the vin numbers only. Case in point. I was at the powder coasters the other day. Three of my Chevy friend were there. I had them powder coat a repop A12 air cleaner before I gave them a real one to do because the real one was worth $2500. They all laughed and said, “ man, you mopar guys are nuts with your matching number. I like my cheap Chevys. Everything I’ve got is a matching numbers SS. You can buy the stamps online”. Anyway, all chargers are hot. They will be the last mopars to loose value in the future. Even if we have a “Mad Max” end of our society, they will still be sought after! You powder coated a real A12 Air Cleaner??? LOL!

You powder coated a real A12 Air Cleaner??? LOL! No. It’s a Tommy Chryco repop. It turned out very nice. I did not loose any detail on it at all. Not sure if I’ll do a real one or not.
