I have a question I've been wondering about chiefly the A/stock cars in the 66-67 period. Somehwhere along the line(I think '67) I know the rules distinguishing SS cars and the 'stockers' changed, but I notice they only called the A/stock cars 'Top Stock' while the rest down to E/S as of '67 were called 'stock'. Were the A/stock cars at that time period still built by same 'stock' rules as the rest of the stock classes or were the A cars allowed more Super Stock parameters, such as any cam or intake etc. I notice in reading some denoting Stahl's 66 Belve A/stock car as an SS car. Just wondering because from what I have read they made it sound as though the A/stock cars were a class unto themselves at that time with different build rules than the rest of the stock class cars. Fred you ran stock class cars back then how did that work with the A cars?

Just got these in an email from a buddy today. Have no idea if the car is 'historic' or not or who it even is/was. Anybody recognize?

Were S & M, or any other Mopar teams, dynoing their motors back then, or at what point? Just curious what the HP differences were in the span between say '68 and '73. The induction systems sure changed, then more radical camshafts, the newer design heads et al. Just curious to know what kind of true HP the factory SS/A and SS/B cars were making relative to what levels it had progressed to by the time pro stock was in full swing.

I've seen that Bill, pretty cool. I guess pretty much all the way through that period say mid 60s-early 70s, Chrysler was doing all the engine dynoing and just relaying to the drag teams what to use? I look at the way the Hemis were in terms of build in the eary-mid 70s, especially after seeing many of Stuart and Fred's pics and the difference blows my mind. Like night and day. Seems like there must have been a pretty momentous increase in HP just in that short time span. BTW, we seem to be getting an inch deep and a mile wide on the post view. Wonder what happened? Posts have gone real wide for some reason or is it just my comp??

Great pics. Were the 70 model 6 pack cars in the same SS class as the street Hemis? I thought the 70 street Hemi Cudas were also SS/D at that time.
