I'm tired of lugging an air bubble to the track.
Which cordless compressor do you use and are you happy with it?

I use a Ryobi 18V inflator. It's slow, and the gauge is totally inaccurate, but its inexpensive and it is great for making adjustments to tire pressure. If you need to air up a flat it is going to take a minute, but it will do the job.
Mine is a few years old, they have some different ones now that may be faster and better. Mine has an analog gauge and I see some newer ones have a digital that might read correctly.

I asked this very question a while back, and ended up buying this.... https://www.harborfreight.com/20v12...si-inflatordeflator-tool-only-64533.htmlBought the heavier duty 3 amp battery and charger. Have used it in my car lot tons. Airs up flats quickly. You can set it to a pre selected amount, walk away, and it shuts off when desired pressure is reached. Got around 100 bucks in the whole deal, couldn't be happier. Battery lasts forever. Think i have charged it one time, probably aired up a dozen flats. Will use next summer for race car. Its also very light to carry

I had never really thought about this before yesterday but it seems like a good option and something to carry in the truck all the time.

Hey I bought one from "Hinkle" race cars after seeing the ad. It great, comes with its own box that has enough room to pack a lunch. You'll need that lunch if you are going to put more than a pound of air into a slick in the lanes. Comes with its own pressure gauge that is almost 1/2 inch in diameter. You can just look at the tool gauge and know you have to get your real gauge out.
If you are going to fill a tire, you can just screw the hose on to the tire and hit the trigger catch and walk away while it fills. Then later, that same day, you can come back and check on the pressure.
One small inconvenience is you have to put about a 1/2 a pound too much in a slick because that is about what you lose when disconnecting the handy screw on connection.
And it was only $50 bucks.
It's for sale if you want to try it. lol so you are saying it could use some improvement? The Ryobi one i use is trigger activated, I keep one of my wifes hair ties on the handle just in case I need to add more than a couple of lbs I can leave it unattended.

I ended up buying the DCC020IB from DeWalt today.
I have all DeWalt stuff so it was an easy choice. $100 you can't go wrong.
Seems to be a pretty nice unit!

I have a bibkle cordless one and no complaints. Of course I never expected it to inflate a tire. I will add .2-3 to my Big Bubbas pretty quickly without issue. Of course I did away with the screw on connection and added a typical inflator chuck, as that's a no brainer and pretty simple thing to do. If you are looking to put 5lbs of air then it clearly is not the right tool, thats what compressors are for. To make a last minute change in the lanes it has been the right tool

To make a last minute change in the lanes it has been the right tool I had intended to buy that unit. Frankly glad i ended up with the one i got. It can pump up a dead flat tire quickly, so adding a couple pounds at the track will be a piece of cake. And it is very light and portable. For once, i think i actually did something right... lol

I have a CJ5 that has been sitting in the garage way too long and decided to air up one of the huge mud tires on it. It didn't take long at at all to at least get the rim off the ground.

I've got a Schumacher multi-purpose, purchased at Walmart. It has the air compressor, a jumper pack, and 120 v inverter outlet, cigarette lighter outlet, USB ports, and a light. It's heavy, but yet portable, very handy, it has a built-in battery that you charged by plugging a standard extension cord into the unit. The battery lasts a long time between charges. The problem is that the air compressor will not completely fill a tire before it shuts off on some kind of a circuit breaker or temperature limit switch or something. Then you have to wait 5 or 10 minutes before it will start again. If you just need to put three or four pounds in a tire, it's fine. But if you need to completely fill a tire from empty, or even add 10 lb to a good sized slick, this should not be your choice. I'm thinking I might dig into mine and find whatever is shutting it off and bypass it. Or maybe I'll put a computer fan next to the compressor to keep it cool. when I first bought this thing and discovered that behavior, I called Schumacher about it. They told me to bring it back to Walmart and exchange it, which I did. The new one did the same thing.

I paid $24 for it two years ago during a winter sale when I was ordering Racepak stuff which was on sale for the dragster. Perfectly happy with my "investment"

Somewhere along the line, I ended up with a Craftsman jumper pack that has a portable air compressor built in, great idea. On my dragster ,I have an air pump on car for shifter and SLE, simply added an air chuck coupler so that I can plug a short hose on to air up tires in lanes. I had a couple of old air bag pumps off of used pickups, they work great as on board pumps, and the newer plastic ones are really light. Jim

I had some Lowes gift cards to use up, so I picked up the Dewalt compressor. All my cordless tools are Dewalt, so it made sense, to go that route for me. Tried it out last night, and so far I really like it. Set the desired tire pressure, and walk away. Will work great in the staging lanes, to adjust a couple tenths.
