What color should the background of the "HEMI" nameplate be?

I have only seen black ones except for the red one that was on my car when I got it.
The only black on it is some paint from a poor masking job during the repaint it got just before I bought it.

Were there different colors available??
Anyone reproduce a red one??

I just looked at an original 383 one yesterday and it was black...that's all I know. I don't recall ever seeing a red one.

I have had this discussion with a few guys I know. No one seems to know for sure what is original. We all have either supposed NOS ones or repops. I have a supposed NOS one, but not sure. I'll look at it to compare. Jason Respucci and someone else were trying to figure this out a few years ago.

I had forgotten that the one I put on from Year one around '95 had the red outlined lettering.

Is it possible that when they were painted they were masked on some kind of jig, sprayed red then moved to another jig masking the letters again leaving some red outline and sprayed black???

First thing to wear off would be the black exposing the once covered red paint.

Any partly worn originals or N.O.S. ones out there?

I'm going to pull mine out this afternoon and get a few shots of it.

I pulled mine out and it is exactly like GaryHemi's. I don't know if they should be outlined in red or not.???
