Bob, Ok Thanks ,
I will drop both the pump body an R,shaft onto the convertor and spin it and slowly tighten the 6 bolts I have the seal in place so I'm guessing that will help center it .
Do NOT use the converter bolts to help pull the converter into the pump
You will be sorry when it cracks the drive tangs and later fails while your driving it
If you use the pump out of the trans to align the gear and rotor it may, will, move while installing it back into the trans
I learned a long time ago to install the converter with the trans out of the car with the trans input shaft pointed straight up and align the drive tangs either at 12 and 6 o clock or at 9 and 3 o clock and try and center it, the pump drive gear equally in the pump drive rotor so you can align the drive grooves in the converter hub the same way and then lowered it into the front pump and slightly turn the converter a little at a time both ways until it drops down the first time and then again, without pulling it up out of the first engagement, slowly turn it again until it drops all the way in
In the car it is a lot harder to hold the converter centered on the input shaft and make it align perfectly on the shaft, it can be done but it is way easier out of the car
I've install converters in the other brand trannies a lot easier than any 904 or 727, Ma Mopar screwed the pooch on this design
Good luck
