this has happened 2x . when ive pulled the car out of the garage and shifted back to park. the cars not ready for the road yet but ive been moving it outside for work. after being in gear and going back to park it lurches forward slightly, it happens when i give it some throttle , then its fine . its a rebuilt trans. with no miles on it yet. any one ever seen this happen?

Exact same thing happened to me after a rebuild. Never did find the cause. Except for the creep in park everything else worked perfect. Final fix was build and install another tranny

This is very normal. Chances are that the rear clutch pack is a little on the tight side.

clutch's a little tight and when you put it in park the park pawl is not lined up with the park gear and has to roll a little to engage.

is it a creeping forward like if you were in drive or just the vehicle rolling forward a bit until the pawl catches?

it is like you just put it into drive but not near as harsh. the car doesnt move forward and its just that split second it does it and then alls well.

The linkage may be off a bit to where the valve is either slightly in or out too far & dont know if thats a problem that'll get worse or not or is causing any other pressure issues inside but we better wait for Kunkel to chime in.

If the car doesn't drive forward in Neutral a significant distance it's OK, just a tight rear clutch pack.

Driving it is not going to loosen up the rear clutch pack unless you do a few hundred miles in REVERSE , the rear clutch is applied in ALL FORWARD GEARS .

Check your shifter adjustment .
