69 Charger 440. Just rebuilt the carb and replaced the fuel pump. OK to use Rec 90? Lead additive? Want to stay away from the ethanol crap.

Rec 90 is good to use. It's non ethanol. I've used it in my 68 Coronet.

Hell no - you do not want to run any ethanol through the system! I am lucky enough to have about 4 stations around my area that sell rec fuel. This is ALL I run in my bass boat, my lawn tractor & all my outdoor equipment, and my 2016 Challenger Scat Pack 392.

Is this an "East Coast" thing? I've never heard of "Rec 90" anything.

Recreational fuel. E-0. Ethanol-Free. Ethanol any content is BAD to run through any fuel systems unless they are made for it. Your state will have stations with it, but they may be few & far between.

Go to www.pure-gas.org to search for stations.

Well.....Out here on the LEFT coast, we have had Ethanol laced gasoline for many years and it is all that I have at my disposal. ALL my cars run on it from the daily driver EFI cars to the '65 Dart. I do notice that the gas loses it's punch within a few months compared to 6 to 7 months many years ago with the MTBE laced gas. I have to run the tanks dry or drive the cars frequently to keep from troubles.

Same thing here in the Great White North.

E10 in 87 regular for many years now and I've seen ZERO evidence of disintegrated carburetors or any other components on any of my junk. The stuff does go stale and when I fire up my wagon in the spring, it doesn't run very well but a trip the the station and some fresh gas, it's fine.

The weed wacker won't even fire on the stuff if it's from last year but dump it out and refill with new and Vroooom.

I'm sure there is something in your gas down there that is causing the problems I've seen there but I don't think it's the ethanol. There's a lot of other stuff besides ethanol in gasoline that isn't gasoline.

Kevin

I used to run regular pump gas (E10) in all my stuff & had some real problems with my Merc powered bass boat, my snowblower, & lawn tractor & push mower. Had to take my snowblower & lawn equipment to a small engine repair shop - he had to go through the carburetors & clean "junk" deposits out to get them running again. My boat would barely start & run in the spring with the E10 in it. Now, on ALL of these since I switched to the ethanol-free, I've had no problems. Also, a few years ago I was at a Bass Pro shop looking at new boats with Mercs, & all of them had a sticker by the fuel fill that said not to use any fuels with ethanol. That was all I needed to see.
