This is cool. These guys comprised a huge chunk of my listening through high school.

I miss Layne, Chris and Chester.
Look up "Beth Roars" on Youtube and her assessment of Layne Staley's vocal range. It will give you a deeper appreciation of Layne's talent.

I hear a lot of chatter about how important a band Nirvana was, but I have always felt that Alice In Chains was at least as significant. Probably more.
I got to see them live once. We went to St Louis to see KISS.....again. And AIC warmed them. AIC did a good job to a mostly empty auditorium. I was already a fan of AIC, and was able to move to a seat very close to the stage. A very cool memory for me.
RIP, Layne. What a shame, what a loss.
Master, again and still

RIP, Layne. What a shame, what a loss. I could be wrong, but I believe that was one of Layne's last shows with the band (I think the last one was in KC, so maybe St. Louis was second-to-last). In any case, you're lucky to have seen them with Layne. I saw them do an acoustic set back in 2011 with William (Layne's replacement) and it was a great show, but I wish I could've seen them before Staley passed away.
