I custom fabricated the rod. basically, just took the stock rod, added about 1-1/4", re-threaded it & put a bend in it so it would push straight back instead of at an angle. It seems to adjust and work perfectly. The throttle cable bracket is still in need of some work. Its bent for now & works, but needs to be done correctly. When I was in the process of fabricating that rod, I became aware of a cable system. I'm not sure who makes it, but a buddy of mine says its the best option. Have you looked into that set-up? again, were back to the stock look issue though, I suppose.

yeah I decided to sell my RPM and get a street dominator. RPM is way too tall to clear the hood in my satellite without a drop base air cleaner, plus with the SD I can keep my thermoquad.
You have a 440 , he has a 383 . I would think the RPM would fit under the hood with a stock aircleaner on a 383 .

Measure. Take some aluminum foil and crumple it up in to a loose ball about 3" in diameter. Place it on top of the air cleaner. Close the hood. Open hood. Measure crushed aluminum ball. The Edelbrock RPM intake is just shy of 2" taller than the stock intake. So if you have 2" of clearance, you should be good to go, as long as the hood doesn't flex downward hitting the air cleaner.
If it measures right at 2" clearance or slightly less, the drop base element with the stock top should take care of that.

i wasn't the one that dragged it back up .
it makes little sense for something like this to be able to be brought back up by anyone other than the OP .
