I used to keep my spare transmission on a little furniture dolly but got tired of that so decided to build something a bit studier. I fabricated a few different versions but finally settled on this one since it was fairly simple and easy to make. I used the same 5 inch casters that I use on my engine dollies even though it is a bit over kill for a 727. But it rolls nice and it has clearance for a deep pan.

Nice! Sure beats dragging one across the floor!

I'm still using the furniture dollies , but I like this a lot.
If I had more than one I was currently tripping over , I would do this.

I used the same idea on an engine/transmission assembly. The single caster in back works just fine on concrete but I don't think I'd try dragging it over the lawn.

I wonder about making the trans end the swiveling caster, with the engine sides non-swiveling.
Suppose it depends on how you move it.
I suppose on the 727, having it vertical would challenge the seals with ATF inside ?
I've stored 'em vertically (when dry) on those small furniture dollies.

I only buy swivel casters. Never tried it with solid casters. The few things I've moved around with solid casters on one end are more awkward to slide into tight spots since you can't move them sideways.

Like how you could still tip up and store it on the face plus protects the mounting face.
