Anybody have opinions on these? They say there’s pin oiling for the rollers. Has anyone ran these with good or bad luck?
And how much lift are you running. They seem to be good bang for buck.

If you look in the catalog it says "N/A" for oil hole so basically they don't have pin oilers. They are a solid body lifter with no way to put the oil hole in them. They have a small .312" axle, retaining clips for the axle, and smaller .750" roller wheel so basically an entry level cheapo lifter. The better lifters have a larger axle, .812" wheel, and better axle retention. I have a set in my street Hemi for about the last 13 years and they been OK so far but I'm not running any aggressive spring loads either. Currently running about .660" lift.

I have a new set of P/N 829-1 that I want to sell that I've had for as while I was going to use in another engine but decided to go with a set of larger wheel/axle lifters and more aggressive cam. If you are interested in the lifters please PM me.
AG.

Comp 829’s...... no edm oiling to axle.

Wheel diameter is .800”, not .750”.

Not my preferred choice anymore for street driven vehicles...... I like to have the positive axle oiling.

I have put them in many racket race engines through the years.

I use the AMC solid roller lifters from Comp since they have the pin oiling plus pushrod oiling. Same basic price as the Chrysler roller but better features. No idea why Comp sells the better roller lifter for AMC but not for Mopar. The Mopar volume has to be 10x that of the AMC.

The 861-16 AMC lifters are quite a bit more $$$ than the 829’s.

If you don’t need the pushrod oiling, the 96829-16 Sportsman lifters are a better value imo.

Thank you guys for the replies. I am glad I asked. The AMC lifter is$686 through summit.
Duane I’ll check out the sportsman lifter as well. Is there much concern with losing oil pressure from too much lift with these 2 choices that Duane and Andy mentioned? And it appears they both oil the bearings. I’m not concerned about pushrod oiling.

And the Mopar 829-16 set is $509.
So the AMC version is more expensive, the owner needs to decide if the difference is worth it to them. Think about how often you plan to replace them, what spring pressures you run, etc.

What are the differences between the "Sportsman" 96829-16 and the "Endure-X" 829-16 ?

Jim the 829 is a solid body roller with no oiling hole to the bearing. The other 2 choices mentioned have the edm oiling. If I was running a street roller
I would be fine with the 829 and have ran the sb version with no trouble. My lobes are designed to be easier on springs so I assume they’ll be easier on the rollers.
Andyf May have chose the amc because they may oil through the pushrod but I’m guessing.

Thanks for the clarification.
So the "Endure-X 829-16 without any forced oil to the needle bearings is the old stand by for less than full out applications, or more frequent replacement.
The "Sportsman" 96892-16 get you the pressure fed needle bearings for $647.
And the AMC version 861-16 get both the pressure fed needle bearings and the ability to oil through the pushrods for $686.

My last engine in the Dart, 540 CID with aluminum block, 0.750" lift, etc. used the offset pushrod roller lifters with pushrod oiling for my CNC 440-1 heads with T&D paired rocker system.
Comp 892 series.
There is also the Elite set 98827-16.

Is pushrod oiling due to blocking the passage to the heads for improved oiling to the mains? Is this something I should do while I am checking the bottom end? I have 1/2 hemi pickup and .003 clearance on the bearings iirc.
I am also curious what 1.6 rockers would be worth on this combo. And would it dramatically shorten the life of parts?
I would go from .640 net to .684 net. I know there only one way to find out exact but what would I expect to see?

Pressure fed oiling AMC $479.
I am baffled as to how AMC is cheaper.
Thank you that is definitely worth checking.
