Hey guys,

Looking to replace the torsion bars on a 1971 Demon that will be a 340 street/strip cruiser. I had made a post before about what bar to go with and I was told Mopar Performance (.94) or the Just Suspension 1.00 (Pro touring kit) and also Firm Feel's 1.00 bars. The car is now a I6 car and I want to get those bars replaced before the v-8 swap. Does anybody have any feedback on these companies and out of the three which one would be most suitable? Will the 1.00 bars have a stock ride height and will the be too rigid over the .94? Will the 1.00 bars go in without modification? Sorry if the questions sound lame I am just not sure about this stuff.

Thanks,
Brian

anyone of them will be fine. Just remember that the bigger bars are for road racing. they will be stiff going into the corners if you are just crusing around town.

The 1" bar in an A body will be really stiff... road race/track stiffness. Getting it to work right and feel right with 1" bars would require several other changes for balance. Really good shocks, sway bars, chassis stiffening (frame connectors minimum) and LCA stiffening. On the drag strip, the really stiff front bars are usually a drawback as they limit weight transfer to the rear.

Depending on what you want to do, the .94 bars may be a better choice.

I worked with Firm Feel on a suspension package and have been well pleased.

A comment if you are rebuilding the rest of the front end... there seems to be a lot of variation in quality in front end parts like ball joints and tie rod ends. The Moog stuff is considered good and I trust Firm Feel's aftermarket offering but some of the stuff out there doesn't hold up so well.

I should have filled you guys in on the other details with the car. The car will have all new Moog frontend parts, stock upper and lower control arms, KYB shocks, and the car also has subframe connectors. It will be a manual steering car and will be mainly used for cruising with occasional track time. Oh and it is also a 727 and 8-3/4 3.55 posi car if that also helps. Do you guys think he would be better off with the .94's then? What was the stock size?

Thanks,
Brian

I know in a drag car most go to the 6 cylinder bars but if you are doing street manners more i would go 1inch bars for firmer, since you had 6 in car going to small block I would find out what it is like with whats in it and if you then want stiffer get the thicker bars.If it was a big block I think you would have to go 1inch but that is just me,your key words were street/strip.
